Don’t try to rebuild a final drive without the torque sequence – you’ll get uneven preload.

What About the Electrical System?

Section 7 is Electrical System. If you’ve ever tried to trace a short on a dozer with aftermarket wiring diagrams, you know the pain. This manual has the OEM schematics. Page 0-28 has diagnostic checks to isolate problems before you start pulling harnesses. The electrical section includes starter motor rebuild, alternator test procedures, and full wiring harness routing. Save yourself the headache.

Get the Torque Tables Right the First Time

Look at page 0-31. That’s the table of tightening torques. I keep a copy taped to my toolbox. When you’re torquing final drive bolts or engine head bolts, you need the exact spec. This is from New Holland, not some aftermarket copy. Use it. Compare these values to any third-party manual – the OEM specs are tighter because New Holland knows their metallurgy. A bolt torqued to aftermarket specs might fail under load.
