New Holland D350 Workshop Manual

New Holland D350 crawler dozer workshop manual cover showing OEM factory specifications

I’ll be straight with you. After 28 years in this trade, I’ve seen more than a few jobs go sideways because somebody relied on a third-party manual or a blurry PDF from a forum. The New Holland D350 Workshop Manual is the genuine OEM book—331 pages of factory data, not a reprint, not a compilation job. If you’re rebuilding a D350 crawler dozer and you don’t have this on the bench, you’re working blind. That includes the engine, the torque converter, the transmission, the final drives, and the brake/steering differential. This is the document the dealer techs use. Get it right the first time.

New Holland D350 Workshop Manual: Engine Section Details

Start with the New Holland D350 Workshop Manual because the QSM 11 engine is no toy. The manual gives you general specifications, serial data, and diagrams for the QSM 11-C configuration. There’s a dedicated section on mounting the engine to the frame and the fan aftercooler control system. You also get the throttle linkage adjustment data. Missing a step here means uneven load distribution or cooling issues. Trust the factory procedure.

What the Transmission Section Covers

This isn’t a generic overview. The manual walks you through operation of the torque converter–transmission hydraulic system: supply and scavenging, converter cooling, gearshifting for 1st, 3rd, AV, and IN, and the quick discharge valves. Removal and disassembly of the converter from the machine is step-by-step, with inspection criteria for each part. The transmission control valve gets its own sub-section with removal, disassembly, inspection, reassembly, and a bench hydraulic test procedure. If you need to understand how the clutches work inside that transmission, this is the authority. For external theory on Manual Transmission basics, that’s fine—but for the D350’s specific valve body and pressure settings, you need the OEM data.

Torque Specs – Don’t Guess

The Table of Tightening Torques is in the front of the manual, with values for every fastener you’ll touch. I’ve watched guys snap head bolts using aftermarket values that were 20 ft-lb too high. Factory torque specs are non-negotiable. The manual also includes a table of capacities and main dimensions for the D350 power-steering version (LT/XLT/LGP). When you’re done with the transmission, the final drives and steering differential sections show you how to set front seals (long life) and assemble the planetary carrier. You also get a check of hydraulic pressures and adjustment of the brake feed valve block. That’s covered in the brakes and steering chapter.

3 Critical Checks Before You Start

  1. Confirm your unit is the D350 PS (Power Steering) variant—the manual is written for that.
  2. Read the safety rules up front. The manual includes warnings about hydraulically or cable-controlled equipment; never work on a machine that isn’t lowered to the ground or properly blocked.
  3. Gather the Special Tools listed at the end of the transmission section. You’ll need them for the converter removal and control valve bench test.

Zero margin for error.

Brakes and Steering Differential: Diagnosis and Repair

The hydraulic braking system includes the brake/fan-drive pump, feed valve block, pedal valve, and filters. The steering section details the hydraulic motor, pilot valve block, and port locations. There’s a failure diagnosis display section that saves you chasing ghosts. Repair procedures cover removal and disassembly of the brake pedal valve and brake hydraulic pump. The differential section goes ring gear removal, planetary carrier disassembly, and disassembly of the twin sun gear. I’ve used this to pull a steering differential on a D350 that had been sitting in a field for three years. The manual got me through every split and bearing fitment.

Does this manual cover the QSM 11 engine in full?
Yes. The engine chapter includes general specs, QSM 11 series data, diagrams of the QSM 11-C, mounting, fan aftercooler control system, and throttle linkage. All factory data, no omissions.
Are torque values given in ft-lb?
Yes. The table uses imperial (ft-lb) units. If you need metric equivalents, you’ll need a conversion chart. The manual does not provide Nm.
Can I use this for a non-power-steering D350?
No. This edition is specifically for the D350 Power Steering (PS) version. The steering differential and hydraulic system differ from the standard D350. The manual title says “D350 Power Steering” and the identification data confirms it.
Is this a genuine OEM manual or a reprint?
Original OEM. The printed number 604.02.422.00 English is on page 1. This is the same document that New Holland service centers use. No third-party edits, no missing pages. The 331-page count matches the factory binder.
