It also covers the fuel petcock and fuel level inspection. If you’re chasing a stumble off idle, the manual shows how to check the accelerator pump operation and adjust the timing. Suspension and Brakes: Factory Procedures Only

Chapter 12 covers the front forks and rear shock. It includes fork oil volume and viscosity specs, spring preload adjustment, and the proper order for disassembling the cartridge fork. The brake section (chapter 11) gives you brake pad replacement, caliper rebuild, master cylinder overhaul, and bleeding procedures. If you’ve ever had a spongy lever after bleeding, you probably didn’t follow the factory procedure for the ABS model (if equipped). This manual prints the correct bleed sequence. Use it.

For the transmission, the manual goes into detail on shift fork alignment, gear engagement dogs, and bearing replacement. This is where a good understanding of Manual Transmission internals helps, but the manual lays it out for anyone with basic mechanical ability. There’s also a section on troubleshooting common shifting problems like false neutrals or hard engagement. Same goes for the clutch — page numbers in chapter 5 cover the hydraulic clutch release mechanism (if applicable) and the cable adjustment.

I’ll be blunt: I don’t trust aftermarket manuals that claim to cover “all models” with one-size-fits-all instructions. They leave out critical steps like aligning the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshafts, or the specific oil pump clearance checks. This Kawasaki service manual includes all that. The front matter alone — the tampering warnings and safety notices — tells you it’s the real deal. You don’t get those in a photocopied version.

If you want the data the factory uses, get this one.

You can’t rebuild a motorcycle on guesswork. You need the factory numbers, the correct sequences, and the diagrams that show you where every ground wire goes.
