Description
K-D Manitou K5705, K5797, K5755, K1479 Parts Catalog – 32 Pages

You have a lift truck down because you ordered the wrong seal kit for the secondary cylinder. Or worse, you swapped a rail assembly and the bolt holes didn’t line up. That waste of time and money happens when you rely on cross-referenced part numbers from aftermarket lists. The K-D Manitou K5705, K5797, K5755, K1479 Parts Catalog is the factory document that kills guesswork. It’s 32 pages of exploded diagrams, item callouts, and original part numbers – nothing filtered through a third-party database.
RAIL SYSTEM: Where the Mast Starts
Page 1 opens with the rail system. The illustration shows inner and outer rail assemblies with stamped part numbers. You need the mast model number off the identification plate – right side of the outer rail, at or above eye level from the driver’s seat. That plate ties directly to the part-number table in this catalog. If you try to order a rail without cross-referencing the stamped number on the top end of the assembly, you are gambling. This manual gives you the exact item number for each rail and the quantity required per mast model. For a K5705, a K5797, a K5755, or a K1479, the rail configurations differ. You can’t eyeball it.
Primary Cylinder and Secondary Cylinder: Two Separate Sections
The catalog dedicates pages 5–8 to the Cylinder primary cylinder assembly and pages 9–13 to the secondary cylinder. Each page has an isometric drawing with a parts table listing part number, description, quantity, and applicable mast model. Need the seal replacement tool kit for either cylinder? That’s page 14. It lists the tool kit part numbers so you aren’t piecing together o-rings from a generic kit. One of the most common screw-ups I see is a tech ordering a primary cylinder repair kit for a secondary cylinder because the aftermarket site lumped them together. The manual treats them as separate systems – because they are.
Chain Systems: Primary and Secondary
Pages 15–16 cover the primary chain system; pages 17–18 cover the secondary chain system. Each system shows the chain, anchor pins, shims, and connecting hardware. The illustrations include the correct routing. If you are replacing a chain, you need the original part number – not a chain that is “close enough.” The catalog gives you that number and tells you how many per assembly. Overlooking chain type on a K5755 can lead to rapid wear on the secondary cylinder sheave. This manual stops that.
Hydraulic System and Hose Kit Assembly
Page 19 shows the hydraulic system schematic with valve blocks, fittings, and hose routing. The hose kit assembly on pages 21–22 lists each hose by length and end fitting. I’ve seen shops install a 12-inch hose where a 14-inch belonged because the aftermarket cross-reference was off by one digit. The factory diagram eliminates that. If you need a hose for a K1479, the part number on page 21 matches the original assembly. No guessing.
Carriage Assemblies: Three Different Versions
Pages 23–24 cover carriage assemblies K5292 and K5296; page 25 covers K5293. Each page has the face bar, hook plates, backrest, and mounting hardware. The catalog tells you which carriage fits which mast model. The K5292 is not the same as the K5293 – the weldments and pin spacing are different. Without this manual, you either measure everything or order both and return one. That costs time and freight.
Source Validity: OEM Print vs. Aftermarket Copies
This isn’t a reprint of a reprint. It’s the original K-D Manitou Parts Catalog scanned from factory stock. The document contains the index, decals appendix, and parts index appendix. The OCR excerpt on page 2 explicitly states: “Notify the Parts Dept. of any changes that may affect your parts order.” That’s factory language. Aftermarket catalogs skip that warning because they don’t track modifications. If you are rebuilding a mast that has been modified, the OEM catalog is the only reliable source. - Is this a service manual with torque specs?
- No. This is a parts catalog. It tells you what part to order, not how to install it. For service procedures, you need the corresponding service manual.
- Can I use this to identify parts on a K5755 mast built in 1992?
- If the mast has not been modified and the serial number matches the master list, yes. The catalog covers all production runs of K5705, K5797, K5755, and K1479. If modifications were made after manufacture, you need to record them and contact K-D Manitou Parts.
- How many pages is the document?
- 32 pages total, including the decals appendix and parts index.
- What if I need a carriage assembly part number for a K5296?
- Turn to page 23. The illustration shows each component with item numbers. Cross-reference the item number in the table to get the part number, description, and quantity. Model numbers are listed per row.
You made it this far because you understand the difference between a factory catalog and a generic list. Stop piecing together parts from memory or online forums. Get the original document that K-D Manitou wrote for their own service network. Access the Factory Manual from AutoRepairManuals and keep it on your shop tablet or printed at the parts counter. That 32-page PDF will save you exactly as many return shipments as you let it.
