You’ve been burned by a parts-store manual before. Torque spec that was off by 10 lb-ft, wiring diagram that showed the wrong pinout, suspension bolt called out as a 15mm when it’s really an 18mm. Here’s where most people mess up: they skip the VIN check and order a rear axle shaft for a FWD model. That axle doesn’t exist on FWD cars. Group 3 only applies to AWD. Brake and Suspension Systems: Factory Procedures

Group 5 covers front and rear disc brakes. Fig. 5-210 shows the rear disc parking brake assembly. The manual includes the parking brake cable adjustment procedure (Fig. 4-120). Torque specs are factory-stamped – I’ve seen aftermarket books list 80 lb-ft for a caliper bracket bolt that Chrysler calls out at 66 lb-ft. That difference can cause a snapped bolt or a loose caliper. With the OEM book, you get the number that the engineer used.

Group 2 front suspension: Fig. 2-110 includes the front drive shaft assembly. If you’re replacing a CV axle on a FWD Pacifica, the manual tells you the correct axle nut torque and the circlip direction for the inner joint. These details matter. Skip them and you’ll have a vibration at highway speed.

Does This Manual Cover the 3.8L and 4.0L Engines?

Yes. Engine-related parts appear in Group 7 (cooling) and Group 8 (electrical). Fig. 7-420 covers drive pulleys for the 3.8L engine; Fig. 7-440 covers the 4.0L. The water pump and related parts (Fig. 7-210) are separate for each engine, but the manual shows both. Alternator wiring: Fig. 8-205 for 3.8L, Fig. 8-210 for 4.0L. Sensors (Fig. 8-605) cover both engines. The transmission sensors are also split – Fig. 8-615 for [EGH, DFF, DGQ] and Fig. 8-620 for [EGQ, DG2]. You need to know which transmission your Pacifica has. The VIN decode doesn’t give the transmission directly, but the engine code and model year narrow it down.

This manual also includes the Powertrain Control Module (Fig. 8-705). If you’re diagnosing a no-start, the wiring diagram for the PCM is factory-correct. Compare that to a generic schematic that shows 12 pins that don’t exist on the real connector.

Group 8 Electrical: Where Most DIYers Lose Time

The electrical section is the thickest. Starters (Fig. 8-105), alternators, relays, sensors, switches, horns, battery tray, lamps, and engine wiring (Fig. 8-1205). The modules section (Fig. 8-405) lists every module – body, ABS, transmission.
