Aftermarket databases often omit the option code – then you order the wrong injection pump harness. This manual doesn’t skip that step.

Compression ratios, valve clearances, injector flow rates – all in tables you can trust. I’ve had too many arguments with guys who used aftermarket data that rounded a torque spec to the nearest 10 Nm. That’s how you snap a main cap bolt. Fuel Specifications and Lubricity Requirements

John Deere takes lubricity seriously – they specify a minimum HFRR wear scar diameter. If you’ve run low-sulfur fuel in an older HPCR pump, you know what happens when lubricity drops: scored plungers, metal debris in the rail, and a bill that exceeds the manual’s price by a factor of fifty. The manual lists the acceptable lubricity levels and the test methods. That information alone can save you from a pump replacement.

Does this manual include wiring diagrams for the engine harness?

No. This manual is for the electronic fuel system only. Wiring diagrams for the full machine are in the specific machine technical manual. The engine control unit connections are covered in Group 140 (Theory of Operation), but pinout details are limited to the fuel system sensors and actuators. Can I use this manual for the 6.8L engine in a combine?

Yes. Section 01 Group 001 includes engine application charts that list which machine models use the 4.5L and 6.8L. The fuel system is identical regardless of the equipment. However, component removal and installation procedures (access, clearance, removal steps) are in the machine technical manual – not this one. You’ll need both.
