The Service Standards section includes a dedicated tightening torque table for major bolts and nuts, plus a separate table for general bolts and nuts. These are dry torque values unless noted as wet. For the cylinder head, the manual specifies the exact sequence and step increments. The same table covers main bearing cap bolts, connecting rod nuts, flywheel bolts, and injection pump drive components. Using the wrong torque on a D6A can crack the crankcase or pull the threads in the cylinder block. That is not a risk you take when the factory data is available.

Why Factory Manuals Beat Aftermarket Copies

I have seen reprints that skip half the diagnostic charts or use a generic wiring diagram that does not match the D6A’s electrical system – starter relay, alternator handling precautions, air heater circuit. The electrical chapter covers the starter, starter relay, alternator (including 40A alternator handling precautions), and air heater.
