If you’re running a FIAT Kobelco CKE1350G crawler crane and you’re still relying on a third-party reprint or some doctored PDF from a forum, you’re wasting time and risking a lift. Does This Manual Cover the Hydraulic System?

Yes, and it gives you the exact relief pressures and pump specs. Main pumps are four variable displacement piston pumps. Load hoist, boom hoist, and propel system run at 31.9 MPa. Swing system hits 27.5 MPa. Control system runs 5.4 MPa. Hydraulic tank capacity is 535 liters. That’s not the same as a generic hydraulic system diagram from a parts catalog – this is the factory calibration data. If you are rebuilding a hoist motor, you need the page 3 specifications for the HINO P11C-VC engine and hydraulic system.

2 Lifting Capacity Tables: Pages 18 and 28

You get two separate lifting capacity tables because this crane uses different boom configurations. Page 18 covers the standard boom capacities; page 28 covers luffing jib and extended boom setups. Max lifting capacity is 135 metric tons at 4.5 meters. With luffing jib you’re at 36.0 tons at 12.0 meters. The manual also includes supplemental data for clamshell operation (page 36) and reduced weight configurations (page 38). If you plan to do a clamshell grab, you need the page 36 data – different duty cycle ratings.

Specifications: HINO P11C-VC Engine and Hydraulic Pumps

Page 3-4 lay out the power plant: HINO P11C-VC, 4-cycle, water-cooled, turbocharged, intercooled. Displacement 10,520 liters – not a typo, that’s the displacement in cc? Actually it’s 10.52 liters, manual says 10,520 liters which is obviously a misprint, but the engine displacement is 10.52 L. Rated power 271 kW at 1850 rpm. Max torque 1470 Nm at 1400 rpm. Batteries are 12V x 136 Ah each, series connected. Fuel tank holds 400 liters. The hydraulic pump specs are on page 3 – four variable displacement piston pumps. If you’re replacing a pump, you need the flow and pressure from this manual because the aftermarket rebuild kits often use generic shims that mess up the control curve.

Transportation Plan: Page 40 – Rigging and Load Out

Page 40 has the transportation plan. This tells you how to prepare the CKE1350G for trucking: counterweight removal, boom stowage, track width adjustments. If you skip that page and guess the tie-down points, you could shift the load on a curve and write off the crane. The manual gives you the exact lift points and center of gravity for each configuration. Use it.

Why Factory Specs Beat Aftermarket Reprints

Aftermarket reprints often leave out the supplemental data sheets – like page 27 supplemental data and page 36 data for clamshell. They cut corners to save paper. This is an original OEM print from Kobelco. The wiring diagrams? Not in this technical manual – that’s a separate document. But the mechanical and hydraulic data is complete. One more thing: the manual lists the boom hoist system using a planetary reducer and a spring-set, hydraulically released multiple-disc brake. That’s a lot like a Manual Transmission in a car – it uses gear reduction but with hydraulic control. The load hoist uses variable plunger motors. The same planetary reducer concept applies. Most of the manual is metric, but you can convert the lifting capacities to imperial: 135 tons = about 149 US tons. The boom lengths in feet: 76.2 m = 250 ft, 47.9 m = 157 ft. The specs are precise – Kobelco didn’t round for marketing.

One thing that irritates me: people treat the lifting capacity tables like suggestions. Page 18 and 28 give you the rated loads at specific radii and boom angles. Exceed those and you’re in load chart territory that voids your insurance.
