Doosan D50S, D60S, D70S 1998 Service Manual – What You Get on the Bench

Doosan D50S, D60S, D70S 1998 service manual front cover showing forklift diagram

I’ve been turning wrenches for 28 years, and the difference between a job that holds and one that comes back on a hook is the paper you’re working from. The aftermarket stuff gets the bolt diameter right maybe, but it guesses on the torque sequence every damn time. This is the actual Doosan OEM manual – 439 pages, bound in 1998, and still the only source I trust when a D50S rolls in with a leaky head gasket or a dead alternator.

Torque Specifications – Real Numbers, Not Estimates

Section SB2004E00 covers every fastener on the machine. Page 3? That’s where the safety warnings start – mandatory reading before you crack any line. But the torque table? That’s where most guys screw up. Doosan gives you the foot-pounds for the DB58 cylinder head, the driveline bolts, the mast pivot pins. I’ve seen a D60S come in with a stripped wheel stud because someone used a generic spec. This manual kills that guesswork flat.

Engine Overhaul: The DB58 Diesel (Section SB2133E00)

Working on the 5.8L diesel? You get the full breakdown – injector timing, valve adjustment, bearing clearances. The alternator and starter are separate sections (SB2134E00 and SB2135E00), each with their own removal, bench test, and install sequence. No “refer to other manual” nonsense. It’s all here, including the charging circuit diagrams that most aftermarket reprints botch.

Does This Manual Cover the Mast Systems?

Yes – section SB2153E00 is dedicated to the mast. Hydraulic cylinder rebuild, chain adjustment, limit switch placement. If you’re swapping a carriage or chasing a drift, that chapter has the OEM clearances. One of my junior techs tried to set mast shims using a spec from a Toyota forklift manual. Don’t do that. Use the Doosan data.

3 Critical Safety Sections You Need to Read

First, the general safety warnings (SB2003E00) – they’re not generic lawyer-speak. They tell you exactly which lifting points are safe and which will drop the machine on your foot. Second, the operation & maintenance manual (SB2145E00) includes fluid capacities and filter part numbers. Third, the hydraulic system schematic (SB2140E00) shows pressure test ports and relief valve settings. Ignoring those sections is how you make a simple job into a hospital visit.

Power Train Systems – D & A (SB2136E00 & SB2137E00)

Transmission removal, torque converter specs, drive axle service. The D&A (disassembly and assembly) chapters are where the manual earns its keep. You get the sequence for clutch pack clearance, the shim selection procedure, and the final drive torque values. I keep a copy of this on my tablet because the step order matters – reverse it and you’ll bind a planetary. If you need to understand how a manual transmission works on other equipment, check the Manual Transmission fundamentals, but for this Doosan, stick to the factory book.

Hydraulic and Electric System Schematics (SB2140E00 & SB2141E00)

Two full schematics – one for the hydraulic circuit, one for the electric system. The electric schematic covers the starting circuit, alternator wiring, and the safety interlocks. If you’re tracing a no-start on a D70S, the diagram shows the neutral safety switch path. No guessing if that wire should be hot with key on – the manual tells you. Also, the Manual Transmission section in general literature won’t help here because the Doosan uses a powershift, but the diagram in this manual will.

Related Manuals for Other Doosan Models

How many pages does the manual have?
439 pages. It covers all three models and includes the DB58 engine.
Does it include the Operation & Maintenance manual?
Yes – section SB2145E00 is the full O&M guide, with daily inspection checklists, fluid specs, and lubrication intervals. That section alone saved me from a seized mast chain because I had the schedule right from the factory. If you’re renting out your D50S or D60S, make sure the operator reads those pages before they start the engine. The manual lists the correct hydraulic oil viscosity for San Antonio heat – 10W-30, not the 15W-40 someone poured in last month.

Look, I’ve been through three different aftermarket PDFs for this generation of Doosan, and they all copied from each other, errors included. This is the original OEM print. Every torque spec, every wire color, every shim thickness came from the factory floor. You want to keep your forklift running without chasing rabbit holes? Access the Factory Manual. Your toolbox already has the wrenches – now get the right directions.
