If you’re working on a 2004 Neon and you’re relying on a generic parts store manual, you’re wasting time. I’ve torqued more head bolts than most people have had hot meals, and I can tell you the difference between OEM data and aftermarket fluff is the difference between a job that holds and a comeback. Brake Systems: Drum, Disc, and Master Cylinder

Cooling System and Pulleys

Group 7 lays out the cooling system: radiator (Fig 7-110), water pump (Fig 7-210), coolant reserve tank (Fig 7-310), pulleys (Fig 7-410), drive belts (Fig 7-503), and transmission oil cooler lines (Fig 7-603). The belt routing diagram shows tensioner direction – if you route the belt backward the water pump spins backward and you overheat. I’ve seen it. For those adding accessories, Group 1 includes Mopar component parts: CD changer (Fig 1-110), satellite receiver kit (Fig 1-115), navigation kit (Fig 1-130), roof racks, bike carriers, trailer tow wiring (Fig 1-245). All factory installation instructions. That’s worth a look before you start drilling holes in the roof.

Electrical: Sensors and Modules

Group 8 is the electrical nerve center. Starters (Fig 8-105), alternators (Fig 8-205), electronic modules (Fig 8-405), power distribution center with relays and fuses (Fig 8-505), fuse block (Fig 8-510). Engine sensors (Fig 8-605), transmission sensors (Fig 8-610), body sensors (Fig 8-615), PCM (Fig 8-705), and every switch group – instrument panel (Fig 8-805), powertrain (Fig 8-810), body (Fig 8-815). Horns, battery tray and cables (Fig 8-1005). If a module fails and you wire a used one without checking the VIN compatibility, you’ll get a no-start. The VIN decoding in this manual saves that headache.

Compare that to the aftermarket garbage that reprints generic wiring diagrams. This is the same document the dealer techs use.
