Description
Arctic Cat ATV 150 2010 Service Manual

If you are wrenching on a 2010 Arctic Cat ATV 150 and don’t have the factory book, you are guessing. Guessing on torque values gets you stripped threads. Guessing on valve clearances gets you a burnt seat. Guessing on transmission lubricant gets you a gearbox full of metal shavings. I’ve seen it happen. This Arctic Cat ATV 150 2010 Service Manual is the exact 85-page document the dealer techs use. It’s not a reprint or a third-party hack job. It’s the OEM file.
Page 2 lists torque specifications for every major fastener on the machine – cylinder head, crankcase, pulley bolts, you name it. You also get torque conversion tables (ft-lb and N-m) on page 3, so no excuse for using the wrong wrench. The tightness values for general bolts are right there. My shop manual pile has a dozen aftermarket books that leave out those tables. This one doesn’t.
Torque Specs and Tightening Procedures
Torque is everything on these small single-cylinder engines. Over-tighten a cylinder head bolt and you warp the deck. Under-tighten and you blow the head gasket. The manual gives you the exact numbers for the 2010 Arctic Cat ATV 150. Section 1 (General Information) covers torque conversions, tightening torque for general bolts, and the break-in procedure. Break-in is not optional – the manual tells you the first 10 hours of operation matter for ring and bearing life. Follow it or start saving for a rebuild.
Does This Manual Cover the Engine and Transmission?
Yes. The Engine/Transmission section (starting around page 30) is the core of this book. It walks you through removing the engine/transmission assembly, then top-side components: valve cover, cylinder head, cylinder, piston. Service procedures include measuring valve stem-to-guide clearance, checking camshaft lobe height, and honing the cylinder. Then left-side components (kick starter, V-belt, drive pulley, driven pulley/clutch), right-side components (rotor/flywheel, stator, trigger coil, oil pump), and full crankcase split. Transmission disassembly is inside the crankcase section – secondary transmission, countershaft drive gear, all of it. Need to replace the timing chain? Page 34 shows the procedure.
Get the Break-In Procedure Right
New rings? New piston? You don’t just fire it and rip. The manual’s break-in procedure (page 3) specifies oil change intervals, speed limits, and load restrictions for the first 10 hours. I’ve seen DIY guys skip this and end up with a smoking engine at 50 hours. The Arctic Cat engineers wrote this for a reason. Follow it.
Periodic Maintenance: What You Need to Check
Section 2 (Periodic Maintenance/Tune-Up) is your checklist for keeping the ATV 150 running. It includes the periodic maintenance chart, special tools list, lubrication points, and procedures for air filter cleaning, valve/tappet clearance adjustment, compression testing, spark plug replacement, muffler spark arrester, engine oil and filter changes, transmission lubricant changes, drive chain inspection and tensioning, headlight and taillight replacement, shift lever adjustment, brake system service (including bleeding and pad replacement), burnishing rear brake pads, and checking/replacing the V-belt. This is the stuff that keeps you from walking home.
85 Pages of Factory Diagnostics
You get 85 pages of OEM content. No filler. The troubleshooting section at the end of Engine/Transmission helps you diagnose hard starts, low compression, and noise. The Fuel/Lubrication/Cooling section covers carburetor specs, removal, cleaning, and adjustment – including throttle cable free-play and idle RPM. Gas tank removal is covered. The manual even tells you which transmission lubricant to use (page 3). It’s all factory-sourced data, not something a writer copied off a forum.
I’ve been a mechanic for 28 years. I trust aftermarket manuals for about two things: doorstops and fire starter. This is not that. This is the original 2010 Arctic Cat release, published August 2010. It belongs on your bench. For related manuals, check the 2008 Arctic Cat ATV 150 Service Manual – OEM Factory Specs if you need the earlier generation. For a bigger machine, the Arctic Cat 500-650 V-Twin Service Manual Section 6 Drive System covers the 500-650 V-Twins. And the Arctic Cat 250, 400, 500, 300, 650 Service Manual – OEM Tune-Up Data gives you the tune-up data across multiple models.
If you need background on Manual Transmission basics, Manual Transmission explains how the gear train works – helpful when you’re staring at the secondary transmission parts. Exhaust system stuff? Catalytic Converters covers the theory, though this ATV doesn’t have one.
FAQ
- Does this manual include wiring diagrams?
- No. This is the service manual only – it focuses on engine, transmission, brakes, and periodic maintenance.
- Can I use this for a 2011 model?
- The cover says 2011, but the content is built from the 2010 platform data. Arctic Cat issued a separate 2011 manual with minor updates. This 2010 manual covers the 150 engine and chassis which are identical for 2011 in most markets, but if you are doing a full rebuild on a 2011, get the specific year. The torque specs and top-end procedures are the same. The 2011 manual includes updated carburetor jetting specs (noted in dealer bulletins). If you are just doing maintenance, this will work. For engine overhaul, I’d spend the extra on the matching year.
You need the factory book. Access the Factory Manual and get back to turning wrenches with the right numbers.
