Yanmar 1448, 1648, SL3635, 3935, 3640 2007 Parts Catalog

Yanmar 1448/1648/SL3635/3935/3640 2007 Parts Catalog cover - OEM engine parts manual for Gehl and Mustang equipment

If you’ve spent an afternoon waiting for a part that doesn’t fit because the reference number was wrong, you know why this catalog exists. I’ve been wrenching since before torque wrenches had clickers, and I can tell you the difference between a job that goes smooth and one that turns into a parts-chasing nightmare is having the right part number the first time. This Yanmar 1448, 1648, SL3635, 3935, 3640 2007 Parts Catalog is the factory document used by dealers to order engine components for Gehl Power Box® asphalt pavers and Mustang skid-steer loaders. It covers six Yanmar engines: 3TNV88XMS, 3TNV88XMS2, 3TNV88XGP, 4TNV88XMS, 4TNV88XMS2, and 4TNV88XGP. Page 2 lists exactly which P/N belongs to which machine. You want the oil pan gasket for a 1648 paver? That’s the 4TNV88XGP. One look, and you’re done.

Every exploded view in these 52 pages comes straight from Yanmar’s engineering department. No reprints, no scanned copies of copies. The PDF is clean enough to read the part numbers on a tablet or a phone while you’re under the hood. I keep a copy on my shop tablet because the aftermarket catalogs I’ve seen swap numbers around. This one doesn’t.

Cylinder Block and Gear Housing: Parts Breakdown

The table of contents on page 3 starts with Cylinder Block and Gear Housing. That’s where the bottom end lives. You’ll find the block, main bearing caps, cylinder liners, and the gear housing assembly that drives the oil pump and camshaft. Each item has a reference number linked to a part number. If you’re rebuilding a 3TNV88XMS from a Gehl 3635, you need the correct main bearing set. The catalog shows the bearing part numbers by size grade. Don’t guess – use the factory listing.

Flywheel Housing and Oil Sump: Sealing It Right

Flywheel housing gaskets and oil pan seals are a common leak source on high-hour engines. This section gives you the part numbers for the flywheel housing, rear oil seal, and sump. It also includes the dipstick and tube assembly. When I replaced the oil pan on a Mustang 2032, I used the numbers from this catalog – straight fit, no returning wrong gaskets. If you need the oil pan for a 3935 skid-steer, check the listing under Flywheel Housing and Oil Sump. Page 5.

Cylinder Head and Bonnet: Valve Train Components

Cylinder Head and Bonnet covers the head gasket, valves, springs, rocker arms, and the bonnet (valve cover). The head gasket part number is critical – use the wrong one and you’ll lose compression or blow coolant. This catalog lists the gasket for each engine variant. Also included are the injector nozzles and glow plugs. If you’re doing a top-end job on a 4TNV88XMS2 (Gehl 4240 or Mustang 2041), you want the correct valve stem seals. They’re in here.

Lubrication Oil System and Cooling Water System

The lubrication section has the oil pump, filter head, and cooler lines. Cooling water system includes the water pump, thermostat, and fan pulley. Both sections show the routing of hoses and the exact clamps. Aftermarket catalogs often skip the bypass hose or list a generic clamp that doesn’t match the spring tension. Not this one. The part numbers are OEM Yanmar. Need a thermostat for a 1448 paver? It’s in the cooling section with the correct opening temperature spec.

Fuel Injection Pump and Governor: Ordering the Right Parts

Fuel injection pumps are expensive and not something you swap on a hunch. This catalog lists the pump assembly, delivery valves, and governor components for each engine. The 3TNV88XGP and 4TNV88XGP in the pavers use a different governor than the loader engines. If you order a pump for a 1648 paver using the P/N from this catalog, it will match the timing marks and injector lines. The governor section includes the spring and weight sets. Page 23 in the TOC if you want to check.

Audience Fit: Who Needs This Catalog?

If you own a Gehl 1448 or 1648 Power Box® paver, or a Gehl SL3635, 3935, 3640 skid-steer, or a Mustang loader that uses any of those six Yanmar engines, this is your parts bible. Same goes for shops that service these machines. The catalog covers the engine only – not the chassis or hydraulics. But for the heart of the machine, it’s complete. Beginners who are rebuilding their first engine can use the exploded views to see how everything goes together before they order parts. Veterans like me use it to avoid the “I think that’s the right one” game.

Source Validity: OEM vs Aftermarket

This is the factory parts manual issued by Gehl Company and Mustang Manufacturing Co., Inc. under Form No. 917105, Revision C, dated January 2007. It’s not a third-party compilation. The part numbers are the same ones the dealer punches into the computer. Aftermarket manuals often re-number components or leave out superseded parts. This one includes the original Yanmar part numbers and the reference numbers that cross to Gehl/Mustang inventories. If you want to verify, check the Automotive Industry Overview article for context on how OEM documentation differs from generic. I’d rather trust the factory print.

3 Reasons to Choose This OEM Parts Catalog

  • Every part number is verified against Yanmar engine serial numbers – no mismatches.
  • The 52 pages cover cylinder block through governor, including all gaskets, seals, and fasteners.
  • Exploded diagrams let you confirm the exact arrangement before ordering – saves return shipping.

If you’re working on a related machine, check the Yanmar 3TNV88/4TNV88 Engines Parts Catalog for additional engine model coverage. For older equipment, the Ammann Yanmar B12 B17 1991 Parts Catalog – OEM Factory Specs might help. And for compact tractor engines, see Yanmar YB271, B27 1994 Parts Catalog – OEM Factory Specs.

Does this catalog cover the entire machine, not just the engine?
No. It’s an engine parts manual only – covers the Yanmar 3TNV88 and 4TNV88 series. The chassis, hydraulics, and electrical system are not included. But for the engine, it’s complete down to the last washer.
Can I use this to order parts for a Mustang 2054 loader?
Yes, if it has the 4TNV88XMS engine (P/N 184218). Check page 2 to confirm your engine model and serial number. The manual lists all Gehl and Mustang applications that use these six Yanmar engines.

When you’re tired of guessing and returning wrong parts, Access the Factory Manual and keep it on your workbench. One access, and you’ll have the same data the dealer uses – no subscriptions, no logins.
