Description

Yale ERC, RA, ZA 1995 Parts Catalog – OEM Factory Data

I’m Mike Callahan, 28-year ASE Master Tech. I’ve seen parts catalogs that look like a fifth-grader traced them off a napkin. This one isn’t that. The Yale ERC, RA, ZA 1995 Parts Catalog is the original factory book – 287 pages of actual OEM part numbers, exploded diagrams, and indexing that doesn’t leave you flipping back and forth for an hour. If you’re keeping one of these electric sit-down riders in service, you need this on your bench.

Yale ERC, RA, ZA 1995 Parts Catalog front cover showing model nomenclature table and mast types

Axle Assembly-Drive: What the Parts Catalog Shows

Run your finger down the alphabetical index. Page 3-2 lands you on the drive axle assembly. That’s not a generic drawing – it’s the same layout Yale used on the assembly line. You get the part numbers for the ring gear and pinion (page 3-6), the differential, the drive wheel and tire. No aftermarket “fits like original” nonsense. Those numbers match the tag on the housing. I’ve made the mistake of ordering a Chinese knock-off carrier once. Ended up with a rig that sounded like a coffee can full of bolts. Don’t do that. Use the OEM index.

Brakes-Hydraulic: Factory Specs for Safe Stopping

Brakes on a 4,000–6,000 lb forklift aren’t something you guess at. The manual breaks it down: brake drum and lining on page 4-4, hydraulic brake section starts page 4-10, parking brake cables and linkage also page 4-10. Every clip, spring, and master cylinder (page 4-7) has its own line in the parts list. If you’re rebuilding a brake system on an ERC-040 or a ZA, you want the exact OEM part number for that brake tube and linkage assembly – page 4-5. Aftermarket catalogs often combine different model years into one blob. This 1995 book separates them.

7 Systems Covered – From Mast to Hydraulics

Flipping through the index you’ll see sections covering: drive train (3-2 through 3-14), steering (5-2 through 5-13), mast assemblies (6-6 through 6-54), hydraulic components (7-8 through 7-28), and electrical (2-10 through 2-56). The mast sections alone cover Simplex, Duplex, Triplex, and Quadplex carriages. Got a Triplex mast with a free-lift cylinder? Page 6-40. Need the chains, pins and anchors for Simplex? Page 6-9. It’s all laid out by mast type, not some universal “one size fits most” table.

Electrical Parts: SCR vs Contactor Hydraulics

Two different electrical architectures are documented separately: “Electrical Parts W/Cont. Hyd” and “Electrical Parts W/SCR Hyd” – both span pages 2-10 through 2-13. If you’ve got an SCR-controlled Yale electric, the contactor panels, battery gauge (2-2 through 2-4), and traction motor “95D” or “116A” are all there. The wiring diagram section (2-52 to 2-56) is worth its weight in time saved tracing circuits. I’ve seen aftermarket wiring drawings that got the pin colors wrong. This catalog doesn’t have that problem.

Source Validity – OEM vs. Aftermarket Copies

Look at the title page: “Yale Materials Handling Corp., Greenville, NC. ITD-1513 © April, 1995.” That’s the OEM copyright. Not a third-party reprint. Not a scanned-and-OCR’d mess with missing part numbers. Every page in this 287-page PDF is a direct factory original. When you order a brake pedal assembly or a steer cylinder from page 5-13, you’ll get the exact part the dealer counter would pull. That’s the difference between a shop that finishes jobs on schedule and one that orders three wrong parts while the customer waits.

Who Needs This Parts Catalog?

If you’re a fleet mechanic at a warehouse with a row of ERC and ZA lifts, this is your parts bible. Home garage enthusiasts? Only if you own one of these trucks and intend to keep it running past 10,000 hours. The manual doesn’t hold your hand – it’s an exploded drawing and a parts list. But if you can read a decimal on a micrometer and turn a wrench, you’ll get what you need. Pair it with the matching service manual Yale OS 030 BC SS 030 BC 1997 Parts Catalog OEM or the Yale MP, MPB 040 AC 1997 Parts Catalog Factory OEM if you have those models. For older Yale trucks, the Eaton Yale & Towne 1700 1969 Service Manual – OEM Factory Data covers the earlier stuff.

Know what else this catalog covers? The electrical architecture uses a Local Interconnect Network (LIN) for some body control functions – but that’s more on the electrical side. The hydraulic controls for the mast and attachments run on a separate system, and if you’re ever dealing with a Supercharger Systems on a gas-powered variant, that’s a different book. This one is all electric.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this catalog cover all ERC models from 4000 to 6000 lb?
Yes. The model nomenclature on page 2 shows ERC 040, 050, and 060. RA and ZA variants are included for all three load ratings.
I need the part number for a parking brake cable. Where do I look?
Page 4-10. That section covers parking brake and cables directly. The index entry is “CABLES-PARKING BRAKE” pointing to that page.
Is this the same manual a Yale dealer would use?
This is the factory-issued service parts manual, not a condensed aftermarket version. The same illustrations and part numbers the dealer parts counter references. It’s an original OEM document from 1995, 287 pages, with Yale’s own index.
Does the manual include exploded views for the mast cylinders?
Plenty. Free lift cylinders for Duplex, Quadplex, Triplex are on pages 6-26, 6-40, and 6-52. Hoist cylinders and tilt cylinders are also mapped out by mast type. You’ll see the seals, rods, and retaining rings with OEM numbers.

This catalog isn’t a substitute for a service manual, but it’s the only way to order the right parts the first time. No guessing which “universal” brake shoe fits because this gives you the actual Yale part number. Access the Factory Manual and keep a copy on your tablet – you’ll thank yourself when the brake drum is off and you need that seal part number.
