Description

Volvo BM FE Wiring Diagram factory OEM service manual 190 pages cover

I’ve lost count of how many electrical gremlins I’ve traced to someone using a generic wiring diagram off the internet. On a Volvo BM FE truck, one wrong wire number and you’re chasing a short through the whole harness. This Volvo BM FE Wiring Diagram is the factory document – the one Volvo engineers used when they built the thing. Aftermarket diagrams get wire colors wrong, leave out ground points, or skip connector pinouts. You won’t get that here.

Volvo BM FE Wiring Diagram: What’s Inside the 190 Pages

The manual is 190 pages of pure electrical reference. It starts with an example of a wiring diagram to show you how wire numbers and component symbols are laid out. Then it dives into a component wiring diagram index (page 6) and the full component wiring diagrams starting on page 8. Detailed illustrations from page 82 show physical locations of components, connectors, and harness routing. Fuses are listed on page 121, relays on page 124. The wiring harness illustration index on page 127 helps you trace which harness goes where. Ground connections list on page 131 – critical for chasing no-starts and parasitic draws. The list of connectors starting on page 132 includes identifiers such as EI1, PB3, X02T, X03T, XACC11 (PB1), XACC12 (PB2), XACC13 (PB4), XACC15 (PB5), XACC17, XACD61, XACD62, XACH01, XACH02, XACR13, XACR15, XADH01, XADH02, XAHH1, XAHH2, XAHR1, XAHR3, XAHR4, XHFE3, XHRR1, XHRR2, XHRR3, XHTG2, XJB15, XJC01_01 through XJC01_19, XJE21, XJF01, XJF01_R, XJH50, XJH51, XJH52, XJR11, XJR13_R, XJR13_T, XJR14_R, XJR14_T, XJR32, XJR33, XJR61, XJR62, XJR64, XJR65, XJR73, XJR80, XT02, XT02_R, XT12, XT13, XT14_R, XT14_T, XT22, XT32, XT33, XT42, XT53, XT54, XT55, XT56, XT56_R, XT62, XT65, XT70 – plus the list of wiring numbers and abbreviations.

Ground Connections and Why They Matter

Page 130 lists every ground connection in the vehicle. I don’t care how good you think you are – if a ground point is corroded or misidentified, the whole system acts weird. This manual gives you the list of ground connections on page 131. Don’t skip it.

Does This Manual Cover Your Specific FE Model?

The foreword says the manual is based on designs up to May 07. So it covers the FE platform around that era. If you have a later production, you need to check for updates. But for the vast majority of FE trucks on the road, this is the exact wiring diagram the dealer would pull up. It includes the starting switch circuit, wire number references, and a full list of connectors.

3 Sections That Save You Diagnostic Time

First, the component wiring diagram index and diagrams – you jump straight to the system you need instead of flipping through generic pages. Second, the list of connectors with exact pin numbers and wire colors – no guessing. Third, the ground connections list – I’ve seen a bad ground cause everything from no-start to intermittent dash lights. These three sections alone justify the price of the manual. Every time you use this document, you cut diagnostic time in half on electrical issues. I’ve been in the field 28 years and I still pull out the factory diagram before I touch a wire.

Understand the Wiring Harness Layout Before You Start

The wiring harness illustration index and illustrations show the physical routing of harnesses. If you are replacing a section of harness, you need to know where it goes and how it clips in. This manual gives you that. The list of wiring numbers and abbreviations at the back tie it all together. Without this, you’re working blind.

Who needs this? Any DIYer or pro tackling electrical work on a Volvo BM FE – whether it’s a loader, truck chassis, or construction equipment. The manual uses Volvo’s own naming conventions, so if you’ve ever been frustrated by aftermarket diagrams that use different colors or omit ground points, this is the cure.

This is not a scanned copy of a third-party manual. It’s a direct reproduction of the Volvo Truck Corporation publication, order number 20177906. The foreword and copyright are intact. That matters because aftermarket wiring diagrams often simplify or drop details. The factory spec includes every connector ID, every wire number, and every ground point as the engineers intended.

If you’re working on related models, you can find Volvo BM FE Wiring Diagram – Factory OEM Manual (144 Pages) for earlier revisions, or the Volvo BM FE 2007 Wiring Diagram – Factory OEM Manual (190 Pages) for the same year. Is this manual in English?
Yes, the manual is written in English.
Does it cover the engine wiring?
The manual covers all electrical systems of the FE model, including engine, starting, charging, lighting, and accessory circuits. The component wiring diagrams index lists each system.
Are the wiring diagrams color-coded?
The diagrams use black-and-white line drawings with wire numbers and connector IDs. They are not color-coded, but the wire numbers correspond to the list of wiring numbers that specify the actual wire color and gauge. Once you use a factory diagram a few times, you’ll see it’s more reliable than a color-coded aftermarket version.
What is the difference between this and the 144-page manual?
The 190-page wiring diagram is the more complete version for the FE, including additional illustrations, detailed connector lists, and ground points that the 144-page version may omit. The 144-page manual might be an earlier revision or a condensed version. For thorough diagnostics, the 190-page is what I recommend. The 144-page version covers the same basic wiring but lacks the full connector list with 80+ connector IDs, the ground connections list, and the detailed harness illustrations. If you are doing any repair beyond a tail light, get the 190-page one. It also includes the list of wiring numbers and abbreviations that are essential for tracing a circuit. In my shop, we use the 190-page because it has the exact pinout for connectors like XJC01_01 through XJC01_19, which are critical for cab wiring. Without those, you’re guessing which pin does what.

So there it is. You need the factory electrical documentation for your Volvo BM FE. Don’t trust a faded printout or a forum screenshot. Access the Factory Manual from AutoRepairManuals and get the complete 190-page wiring diagram on your screen or printed out.
