Description
Volkswagen Jetta, Bora 2005 Repair Manual – DSG 02E Factory OEM
You’ve got a Volkswagen Jetta or Bora from 2005 with a DSG acting up. Codes you can’t clear. Clutch slipping. Maybe the Mecatronic unit is throwing a fault. Without the factory data, you’re guessing – and on a transmission this complex, guessing costs you a transmission. I’ve seen it happen. This is the OEM Repair Manual for the DSG 02E, straight from Volkswagen. 118 pages. This is the original factory document from 2005.

DSG 02E Transmission: What This Manual Covers
The manual breaks down into five repair groups: technical data (00), clutch (30), actuation and transmission housing (34), gears and shafts (35), and driveshaft/differential (39). Chapter 2 covers the safety functions of the Mecatronic unit – those are critical if you’re clearing codes or replacing the mechatronic module. Page 9 gives you the exact fill quantity for the DSG fluid. Use the wrong amount and the clutch packs will fail within 500 miles. I’ve seen it.
Torque Specs and Fill Quantities
You need the clutch cover bolt tightening sequence? Page 23. The manual shows the order and the torque value. Not a range – a single number. DSG fluid type and capacity? Page 9 again. The manual also includes the procedure for checking fluid level at specific transmission temperature. Aftermarket manuals skip that detail. This one doesn’t.
I’ve worked on these DSG units since they came out. The 02E is sensitive. Overfill it, you get aeration. Underfill, the clutches slip. The factory data eliminates the guesswork.
Mecatronic Safety Functions: Why You Need the Factory Data
Section 2.2 covers the safety logic of the Mecatronic. If the control unit detects a fault, it can deactivate the transmission completely. Without the factory diagnostic steps, you’ll replace parts that aren’t bad. The manual includes guided fault location and vehicle self-diagnosis procedures (Chapter 6.12). That saves you hours of bench testing.
3 Critical Tools for the Clutch Job
The manual lists special tools in Section 6.1. For the clutch assembly, you’ll need the clutch centering tool and the T10065 puller. Don’t try to rig it with a generic puller – you’ll damage the clutch hub. Page 23 shows the clutch cover removal with the correct tool. The manual also includes the cleaning rules (6.4) – DSG clutches are intolerant of debris.
Does the Manual Include Wiring Diagrams?
Yes. Section 34.1 covers the electrical/electronic components and their mounting locations. The wiring schematics are part of the guided fault location. If you’re chasing an electrical issue, you need the factory pinouts. Aftermarket diagrams are often reversed or inaccurate.

FAQ
- Is this manual in English?
- No. It’s in Spanish.
- Does it cover the entire car or only the transmission?
- This manual is specific to the DSG 02E transmission. It includes all repair groups needed for internal transmission work: technical data, clutch, actuation, gears, and differential. It does not cover engine, body, or suspension.
- What torque specs are included?
- Clutch cover bolts, mechatronic mounting bolts, and transmission case bolts are all listed with exact values. Page 23 gives the clutch cover sequence – you need to follow the diagonal pattern and torque to 8 Nm then 18 Nm in the specified order. Page 9 also has tightening specs for the oil drain plug (30 Nm) and the fluid level plug (10 Nm). The manual also includes the torque for the mechatronic unit bolts (8 Nm) and the transmission housing bolts. Missing those by even a few foot-pounds can cause leaks or misalignment.
- Can I use this for a 2006 Bora?
- Yes, the manual explicitly covers Bora 2006 as stated on the cover.
