Factory Wiring Routing vs Aftermarket Guesswork
Page 2 lists eleven sections, starting with ELECTRICAL WIRING ROUTING (Section G). That section shows exact positions of connectors, splice points, and ground locations. When you’re tracing a short in the taillight circuit, having the factory routing means you aren’t wasting a Saturday probing random harnesses. The manual doesn’t just give you a diagram – it tells you where the wires actually run behind the dash and under the hood.
Most DIY guys grab a generic wiring book and end up with a blown fuse or a melted connector. Toyota’s own schematics use color codes that match the actual wires. No interpretation. No “this should work” nonsense.
What Does the Power Source Section Cover?
Section H, POWER SOURCE (Current Flow Chart), traces power from the battery through every fuse, relay, and load. Need to know which circuit powers the ABS control unit? The chart shows the path start to ground. The manual also includes a dedicated POWER SOURCE section after the flow chart – two separate but related parts. On page 3, the manual explains that all circuit diagrams are shown with switches in the OFF position, which is critical for accurate voltage drop testing.

Here’s what the 243 pages are divided into:

Engine Controls: 3S‑GTE, 5S‑FE, 4A‑FE

Get the Relay Locations Before You Start
Section F, RELAY LOCATIONS, is the first thing I look at when I open this manual. It shows the position of every relay, relay block, and electronic control unit. The AT180, ST184, and 185 have different layouts – the manual breaks them down. Trying to find the ABS relay without this section means pulling half the interior. Troubleshooting Before You Grab a Multimeter
