Description

Prime-mover L-900 1982 Parts Catalog

If you’ve ever ordered a part from an aftermarket parts catalog and bolted it on only to find the hole pattern doesn’t line up, you know the waste of time I’m talking about. That’s why this Prime-mover L-900 1982 Parts Catalog exists. It’s the original factory document—not a scan of a copy, not a third-party reprint. Forty-two pages of exploded views, part numbers, and assembly breakdowns that match the actual machine on your shop floor. I’ve seen too many mechanics try to guess a seal size or wing a hydraulic line because they didn’t have the right reference. This kills that.

Overhead Guard and Engine Assemblies (Onan & Isuzu)

Start with the overhead guard assembly (Fig. 1) and seat components. Then the powerplants: Figure 2 covers the gasoline Onan engine assembly, Figure 3 the diesel Isuzu engine assembly. Each figure lists every nut, bolt, gasket, and bracket with the factory Prime-mover part number. Need a flexible coupling spider for the Onan? It’s item 33, part VF40N1-00-00. The Throttle Control Assembly for the diesel model is its own figure (Figure 4), which is critical if you’re replacing a cable or bracket. Without the factory assembly order, you’ll spend an hour figuring out which way the spring hooks.

Wiring Schematics for Both Models

Wiring is a nightmare if you’re trusting a generic diagram. This manual gives you Figure 11 for gasoline wiring assembly schematic and Figure 12 for diesel. These are original 1982 Prime-mover layouts, not redrawn by some intern. If you’re chasing an intermittent short in the instrument panel (item 5 on page 1), you’ll want the exact wire routing and connector locations. The hydraulic schematics (Fig. 13 & 14) and symbol reference (Fig. 15) complete the electrical and fluid circuit picture.

Does the Catalog Cover Attachments?

Yes. Many owners forget that the L-900 was sold with optional buckets, pallet forks, grapple forks, and even an auger attachment. Figures 31 through 34 break down the bucket and pallet fork assembly, grapple fork assembly, grapple fork cylinder assembly, and the auger attachment assembly. If you’re fabricating a mount or need a replacement pin—those dimensions come from these diagrams. The Snap-Tach assembly (Fig. 27) is also here, so you can understand the quick-attach mechanism before you start welding.

3 Reasons to Stick with OEM Parts Data

First: every part number here is the number Prime-mover used when that machine left the factory. No cross‑referencing, no guessing which revision fits your serial number. Second: the exploded views show torque sequences and order of assembly—stuff you can’t get from a parts counter screen. Third: the wiring schematics are specific to ’82 production. Later updates changed pinouts; this document is the baseline. Using aftermarket wiring diagrams for a machine this old is a good way to blow a control board.

Hydrostatic Systems and Hydraulic Motor Assemblies

Figures 7, 8, 9, and 10 detail the 15-series and 18-series hydrostatic pump assemblies for gasoline and diesel variants. The hydro control assemblies are separate—don’t mix them up. Hydraulic motor assemblies MAB-16003 (Fig. 21) and MAE-24029 (Fig. 22) are pulled apart with every seal and bearing listed. If you’re rebuilding a drive motor, you need those internal parts. Page 23 covers the hydraulic pump and valve assembly for the gas model, page 24 for the diesel. Valve assembly (Cessna) is Figure 25. Without this catalog, you’re guessing on O-ring sizes.

Source Authenticity

This is not a reprint from an aftermarket publisher. It’s the original factory–licensed PDF from the Prime-mover archives. The publication date is August 1982, and it covers both the L-900 Gasoline and L-900 Diesel (930) models. 42 pages, no missing figures, no third-party watermark. I’ve seen too many “digital manuals” that are actually photocopies of photocopies—unreadable part numbers. This is sharp enough to zoom in on item tags. The Parts Index on page 2 lists every assembly and its figure number so you can jump straight to what you need.

For broader context on how OEM documentation supports heavy equipment repair, see the Automotive Industry Overview. Also, the Automotive Industry Overview helps understand why factory specs matter across all vehicle segments.

Does this Parts Catalog cover the wiring for both gasoline and diesel models?
Yes. Figure 11 (gasoline) and Figure 12 (diesel) are separate wiring assembly schematics. They show the full harness layout, connector locations, and ground points as originally drawn by Prime-mover in 1982.
Are the part numbers still valid for ordering from Prime-mover dealers?
Some part numbers from 1982 have been superseded. The catalog lists the original factory numbers. You can cross-reference supersessions with your dealer using these numbers. The exploded views also show the assembly relationships, so even if a part number changes, you can identify what it replaces. Without this catalog, you’re blind to the original design intent.

If you maintain a Prime-mover L-900 or need to order correct replacement parts, stop guessing and start using the actual factory documentation.
