Description

O&K 5500 Parts Catalog – Factory OEM Parts Manual TB114

I’ve been turning wrenches since before some of you were born, and one thing I know: chasing down the right part number for an old loader can eat up half your day. Aftermarket parts catalogs? They’ll get you close, but close doesn’t cut it when you’re staring at a broken axle cradle on an O&K 5500. That’s why you need the factory Parts Catalog — the one with 209 pages of exploded views and genuine part numbers. Not a reprint, not a scan of a scan. The original OEM file.

O&K 5500 Parts Catalog cover - Factory OEM Parts Manual TB114 209 pages

This manual covers serial number 59-1511 and higher. That matters. Parts change over production runs, and a generic catalog will sell you a brake valve that doesn’t fit. The factory book ties every part to a specific serial range. Use the wrong one and you’re looking at a return — if you’re lucky. More often you’re just out the money and still down.

Brake Components: Pages 202-203 Coverage

The Brake group is split into several sections: Brake Valve (page 175-176), Brake Controls & Lines (165-167, and a second pedal option on 173-175), Air Chamber (180-181), Air Governor (178-179), and the Axle Brake Group itself (202-203). If you need a brake chamber or a valve rebuild kit, you can’t guess the application. The illustrations show the exact casting numbers and assembly order. I’ve seen guys order a brake valve from an aftermarket supplier only to find the mounting bolt pattern is 1/4-inch off. That’s a half-day job turned into a full week. Don’t be that guy.

Axle Assembly and Brake Group: What’s Listed

Front axle assembly (page 190). Rear axle assembly (page 191). Axle Brake Group (202-203). Axle Cradle (10-11). These are heavy, expensive parts. One wrong part number and you’re eating freight charges both ways. The catalog gives you the OEM number for the entire assembly and for every individual component — seals, bearings, shims, bolts. The group index at the front of the O&K 5500 Parts Catalog lets you navigate by system: first two digits indicate the machine area, next two the assembly, last two the sub-assembly. Example: Group 32 05 01 means Hydraulic System > Hydraulic Tank Assembly > Hydraulic Filter. That logic is consistent across all 209 pages.

How to Use the Index and Group Numbers

Flip to the index on page 5. Find “Brake Controls & Lines” — that directs you to pages 165-167. Each page has a table listing item numbers, part numbers, descriptions, and quantities. N.S.S. means “Not Serviced Separately” — you need to buy the whole assembly. N.I. means “Not Illustrated” — the part exists on the machine but isn’t shown in that view. That’s real information you don’t get from generic catalogs that just copy blurry photos. You also get the proper part name. Ordering by name AND number eliminates confusion. Half the returns at dealerships come from people ordering the wrong description.

3 Systems Where OEM Part Numbers Matter

  1. Hydraulic system — Accessory Hydraulic Piping (116-117), Main Control Valve Assembly (138-140), Bucket Cylinder (96-97), Lift Cylinder (94-95), Steering Cylinder (128-129). These involve O-ring seals, thread sizes, and port orientations that aftermarket suppliers routinely mismatch.
  2. Drivetrain — Torque Converter (10-11), Transmission Control Valve Assembly (88-92), Planetaries in the Cab Carrier Assembly (206-208), Axle Cradle (10-11). Bearings and seals are serial-number-specific.
  3. Air system — Air Dryer (165-167), Air Reservoir Piping (169-171), Air Governor (178-179), Air Chamber (180-181). Thread fittings, check valves, and purge valves are not interchangeable across serial breaks.

Every one of those systems has an exploded diagram with callouts. You match the item number on the illustration to the table, write down the OEM part number, and hand it to your parts guy. No calling back to say “that number doesn’t work.”

Accelerator Pedal & Linkage and Other TOC Highlights

The catalog also covers small assemblies you’d never find diagrams for otherwise: Accelerator Pedal & Linkage (46-47), Air Shift (141), Automatic Bucket Leveler & Indicator (72-73), Back-up Warning Alarm (64-66), Battery & Wiring (64-66), Clutch-cut-out Switch (201-202), Connector, watertight (182), Counterweight (98-99). Even the Control Valve Console (156-158) and Cab Carrier Assembly-Planetary (206-208). That’s the difference between a factory manual and a third-party cheat sheet. The factory publishes every nut, bolt, and bracket because they made the machine. Aftermarket vendors only stock the parts that sell frequently. You need an OEM watertight connector? It’s in the catalog. O&K 5500 Parts Catalog is the one you want if you’re working on a loader in that serial range. O&K 5500 Parts Catalog – Factory OEM Parts Manual TB114 (209 Pages) gives you the complete PDF. For other models, check the O&K L45, 4500Z 1990 Parts Catalog – Parts Manual TB126. If you want to understand why OEM documentation matters in heavy equipment, see the Automotive Industry Overview and Automotive Industry Overview.

Does this catalog include part numbers for the brake system?
Yes. Pages 202-203 cover the brake group, and pages 165-175 cover brake controls, lines, and valve assemblies.
How do I find the correct part number if the illustration doesn’t match my machine?
Check the serial number on your machine against the range listed on page 2 (Serial No. 59-1511 & Higher). If your machine falls outside that range, this catalog won’t be accurate. For machines within the range, use the group index in the front. Locate the system group (e.g., Air System is group 16), find the subgroup (e.g., Air Dryer is 165-167), then compare the illustration to your physical part. Casting numbers are stamped on the part and should match the illustration callout. If the illustration shows a different bracket or port orientation, you may have a production variant not captured in this edition — always verify with your distributor.

If you want to stop wasting time on wrong parts and get back to work, access the factory manual. One PDF, 209 pages, every part number you need for the O&K 5500.
