Description
Mazda 323 Parts Catalog – Factory Rally Parts Manual
If you are rebuilding a Mazda 323 4WD for rally or just need the right OEM part number for the cylinder head gasket, you don’t have time to guess. I have seen too many builds come through my shop with mismatched parts because some aftermarket catalog fudged the dimensions. This is the real deal – 31 pages of factory-issued Mazda 323 Parts Catalog originally printed for the rally program. Every part number in here came straight out of Hiroshima, not some third-party database.

Engine Components: Cylinder Head and Camshaft Base
Page 5 of the catalog covers the cylinder head assembly (part number B695 10 100G) for the 1.6L 4WD. That assembly is meant for the mass-produced block, but the camshaft base – listed on the same page – is a spheroidal graphite cast-iron piece that comes unmachined. You are expected to finish the cam profiles yourself or consult with ENEM. Do not assume it bolts in out of the box. The camshaft base part number is B6N7 12 421, and you will need two per engine. If you are sourcing parts for a turbo swap, the turbocharger section on page 6 gives the adjustable rod spec and the valve actuator assembly (B6N7 13 70Y). Supercharging pressure differential between rally (800 mmHg) and STD (550 mmHg) is noted – do not ignore that when choosing your wastegate spring.
Transaxle and Transfer System: Transmission and Speedo Gear
Drivetrain specs are where most aftermarket catalogs screw up. This manual gives you the exact transfer case breakdown and the speedometer driven gear part number. The transmission assembly itself is listed with the OEM references you need to order the correct bellhousing and shifter linkages. Look at page 12 through 16. You will see the transfer case and speedo driven gear under separate headings. Do not rely on interchange guides; use the factory part numbers here to avoid a 4WD binding issue on your first test run.
Brake System Parts: Pads, Rotors, and Caliper Components
Brake upgrades on a rally car are not cosmetic. The front and rear disk brakes are separated clearly on pages 22 and 24, with caliper component parts on page 26. Part numbers for brake pads, rotors, and the caliper rebuild kits are listed individually. If you are converting from drums, this catalog gives you the factory retrofit parts, including the rear brake caliper components. Do not mix front and rear pad compounds based on forum advice – use the OEM part numbers for the correct friction material.
Suspension: Front and Rear Setup
Front suspension is covered on page 28, rear suspension on page 30. Strut bars, underbody guards, tank guard – all listed under Protectors & etc. starting page 32. If you need the differential guard or the joint guard, those are separate line items with their own part numbers. Do not assume a generic skid plate fits the 323 4WD; the mounting points are specific. Stick to the factory bracket numbers.
Why Factory OEM Documentation Beats Aftermarket Reprints
I have had customers bring me aftermarket “electronic” manuals that list the wrong torque for the brake caliper bolts. This catalog is a scanned original Mazda publication. No reprint house tweaked the part numbers. If the manual says “B6N7 14 700” for the oil cooler assembly, that is the part you order. The application data – rally vs. STD – is printed right on each page. Do not trust a website that claims to have the same data without showing the actual factory page numbers. That is how you end up with a turbocharger actuator that opens at 550 mmHg instead of 800.
For related factory documentation, check out the Mazda 323 1988 Workshop Manual or the Mazda 323 1989 Workshop Manual for service procedures. If you are working on a Miata, the Mazda Miata 2004 Parts Catalog – Factory OEM Parts Breakdown follows the same format. FAQ
- Does this catalog cover the stock 323 or just the rally-spec parts?
- It covers rally-spec parts for the 323 4WD. Some sections list both rally and STD specs (e.g., turbocharger pressure, radiator cooling capacity) so you can compare.
- What part numbers are included in the 31 pages?
- Every part number from the original factory bulletin: cylinder head, camshaft base, turbocharger, oil cooler, radiator, control unit, clutch, transmission, transfer case, speedo gear, limited slip differential, brake pads and calipers, suspension arms, and underbody guards.
- Is this the same as the factory parts catalog from Mazda?
- Yes. It is a direct scan of the OEM “Rally Parts Manual” for the Mazda 323 4WD. Not a reprint or a third-party compilation.
- Can I use this for my daily driver 323?
- You can use the part numbers for any 323 4WD, but many parts are rally-specific (unmachined cam base, high-capacity radiator) and may not be legal for street use. Check your local regulations.
Do not waste time cross‑referencing part numbers from vague websites. Get the factory data on your bench. Access the Factory Manual now.
