Also note the lubricating oil capacity: 13.2 L (3.49 U.S. gals., 2.90 Imp. gals.) for all models. That’s a spec you’ll use every oil change.

Valve Clearance Tolerances

Page 2 covers valve clearance and top clearance. For all models, intake valve clearance when cold is 0.23 to 0.27 mm (0.0091 to 0.010 in.). Exhaust is the same range. Top clearance varies: for the V3600-T-E3BG it’s 1.05 to 1.27 mm (0.0414 to 0.0500 in.). For the V3800DI-T-E3B it’s 0.701 to 0.930 mm (0.0276 to 0.0366 in.). Set these wrong and you’ll hear it. Cylinder head bolts, main bearing cap bolts, connecting rod cap bolts, flywheel bolts—all with the tightening sequence. Aftermarket manuals love to give a single torque value without the angle. This manual gives you the exact two-stage procedure for head bolts on the DI models. Skip the angle and you’ll pull the threads on a cold start. That’s not a guess; I’ve seen it happen.
