Kubota LA513, LA723, LA853 Workshop Manual – No Aftermarket Guesswork

Kubota LA513, LA723, LA853 factory workshop manual cover – 41 pages of OEM service data

If you’ve ever tried to torque a hydraulic fitting on a Kubota loader using some aftermarket reprint, you know the drill. The numbers don’t match, the diagrams are fuzzy, and suddenly you’re tightening a JIC fitting to bolt specs. This Kubota LA513, LA723, LA853 Workshop Manual fixes that. It’s the same 41-page document Kubota dealers used in 2002. Every torque value, every clearance, every control valve adjustment comes straight from the factory. No third-party interpretation.

Before you pull any wrenches, read the safety instructions starting on page 3. The manual spells out exactly how to park the machine, disable the battery, and hang a “DO NOT OPERATE” tag. Skip that step? That’s on you. I’ve seen loaders drop because someone thought “close enough” was good enough for a quick disconnect. Not on my bench.

Hydraulic Circuit and Control Valve Assembly

Chapter one of the Servicing section walks through the hydraulic circuit and block. Then it gets into the control valve assembly – both the 3-position bucket control type and the 4-position bucket control type. If you’ve got an LA853 with the extra detent for float, the manual breaks it down. The valve spool disassembly specs are listed with factory limits; you’ll find wear tolerances that a generic manual would never print.

Tightening Torques: General Use and Hydraulic Fittings

The tightening torque section is split three ways: general use screws, bolts and nuts; hydraulic fittings; and special use fasteners. If you’re wondering what to put on a banjo bolt vs. a flange nut, it’s all there. The table separates inch-pound and foot-pound values. I’ve seen too many guys snap a 10mm bolt on a loader bracket because they used a “standard” chart from the internet. Use the factory spec or go home.

Check the Control Valve Before You Wreck It

The “Checking, Disassembling and Servicing” chapter covers the control valve in detail. You get a procedure for checking and adjusting the valve – not just a line saying “adjust if needed.” It tells you which shims to add and how much preload to aim for. The controller section gives the disassemble/assemble steps for the solenoid stack. And the bucket, boom, and hydraulic cylinders section includes servicing specs for seals and rod wear. Page 3? That’s safety. Page 2 is the reader preface. The real meat starts in the hydraulic chapter.

41 Pages of Factory Service Data

Forty-one pages. That’s all Kubota needed to pack in loader specs, bucket specs, dimensional and operational specs, troubleshooting, servicing specs, tightening torques, and step-by-step dismounting instructions. No wasted space. Every page has a purpose. The troubleshooting section even lists symptoms like “loader drifts down” with a list of probable causes and the correct valve section to inspect. If you’re a home garage guy trying to keep a tractor loader alive, this is what you want on the workbench.

Related Manuals and References

Is this manual for my LA723 loader?
Yes, it covers LA513, LA723, and LA853 models directly.
Can I use this for an LA853 with a 4-position bucket control?
Absolutely. The manual includes dedicated sections for both 3-position and 4-position bucket control valve types. Inside the control valve assembly chapter you’ll find two sub-sections – each with its own disassembly and assembly steps, plus the specific shim and spring specs. The 4-position adds a float detent, and the manual covers that detent adjustment procedure with factory tolerances. If you have a machine that uses the ESX controller (introduced later), this 2002 manual won’t cover that electronic override; you’d need the later supplement. But for standard hydraulic control, everything lines up.

Stop betting your time on manuals that guess at specs. This one came off a Kubota press in 2002 and it’s the same one I used in my shop for years. Access the Factory Manual now and get the job done right the first time.
