Aftermarket panels often come with a note saying “may require adjustment.” The OEM manual gives exact dimensions in Group 31. Does this manual cover mechanical repairs like engines or transmissions?

No. This is a body shop manual. It covers panels, dimensions, welding, plastic parts, and rustproofing. Use the separate Service Manual for drivetrain.

What kind of welding procedures are included?

The fundamental procedures section (page 00-1) covers spot welding, MIG welding, and brazing for body panels. It also specifies weld pitch and pattern for each joint – for example, the quarter panel attachment uses 5 or 6 spot welds depending on location (see page 21-18). The manual warns against overheating that can warp the panel, and it tells you to use a copper backing bar for plug welds. If you don’t have that bar, you’ll blow through and spend hours filling.
