Description

Jeep Grand Cherokee 2006 Parts Catalog

If you have ever ordered a front axle shaft for a 2006 Grand Cherokee and ended up with a part that didn’t fit because somebody guessed the axle code, you understand why I do not trust third-party parts lists. That is exactly what this factory Jeep Grand Cherokee 2006 Parts Catalog eliminates—the guesswork. Every part number, every illustration, every fastener callout comes straight from the assembly line. 499 pages of original Mopar documentation. No reprints, no aftermarket interpretation. You look up the figure, you read the part number, you order it. Done.

VIN Plate Decoding: Where It All Starts

Before you order anything, you need to know exactly which vehicle you are working with. The first page of this catalog lays out the full VIN decoding table. Position 5 tells you if it is a Grand Cherokee 4×4 (letter R) or 4×2 (letter S). Position 6 gives the series—Laredo, Limited, Overland, or SRT-8. Position 8 decodes the engine: 2 for the 5.7L HEMI, K for the 3.7L V6, N for the 4.7L V8. Without that, you are flying blind. Page 1 shows every character from country code through assembly plant sequence. Cross-check your VIN here before you touch a wrench.

Group 2 Front Suspension: Bolts and Specs

Front suspension work on these Grand Cherokees means dealing with the cradle, control arms, stabilizer bar, and axle shafts. The catalog breaks it into separate figures: Fig. 2-110 for springs and shocks, Fig. 2-120 for the stabilizer bar with SDA or SDX codes, Fig. 2-140 for the cradle. If you are replacing lower control arms, the figure shows the exact bolt callouts and washer placements. The 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK WH Factory Service Manual gives you torque specs; this catalog gives you the part numbers. Use them together.

Does This Parts Catalog Cover the 5.7L HEMI?

Yes, and it covers the 3.7L, 4.7L, and the 6.1L in the SRT-8. Group 7 Cooling, for example, splits radiators by engine: Fig. 7-160 for 3.7 and 4.7, Fig. 7-165 for 5.7 and 6.1. If you need a water pump, Fig. 7-220 covers the 3.7/4.7, Fig. 7-230 covers the 5.7/6.1. The drive belt figures (7-510, 7-520) separate the two groups. You do not guess—you match your engine code and go.

4 Brake System Groups You Need to See

The catalog dedicates Group 4 to parking brake and Group 5 to service brakes. Within Group 5, the front brake calipers split by sales code: Fig. 5-110 for EK0/EV0/EZ0, Fig. 5-120 for ES0. Rear brakes split by axle—DRS (Corporate 8.25) and DRK (Dana 44). That matters because the caliper and rotor differ. Fig. 5-510 and 5-520 show brake lines for 2WD and 4WD front ends. If you are chasing a leak from an HCU line, Fig. 5-420 gives the exact routing from master cylinder to HCU. This is not a generic diagram; it is the line that came off the assembly line.

OEM vs Aftermarket: Why the Factory Version Matters

Aftermarket parts catalogs often bundle multiple model years into one confusing chart. This is factory-issued for the 2006 model year only. The VIN decoding on page 1 confirms the year digit is 6 for 2006 (position 10 shows 6 for 2006, not 7 for 2007). The catalog covers the WK platform exclusively. If you have a 2005 or 2007, get the corresponding factory catalog—do not compromise. I have seen techs order a Dana 44 axle shaft for a Corporate 8.25 because the aftermarket list lumped them together. That does not happen with this document.

Related catalogs: 1994-1996 Jeep Parts Catalog for older Grand Cherokee models, and Jeep Wrangler Cherokee Grand Cherokee 1991-1993 Parts Catalog for the earlier generations. Each one is a factory PDF, not a scanned copy job.

Which Accessories Are Covered?

Group 1 is all Mopar accessories: audio and electronics like the navigation kit (Fig. 1-160), rear seat DVD (Fig. 1-170), satellite receiver (Fig. 1-120). Carriers include hitch-mount bike carriers, roof-mount ski carriers, and canoe carriers. Driving convenience covers park distance sensors, remote start kits, and hands-free phone kits. If your customer wants to add a factory accessory and you need the exact bracket or wiring harness, the part number is in Group 1. The illustrations are in the same order as the TOC on page 2.

FAQ

Can I use this catalog to order parts for a 2007 model?
No. The 2007 model year has a different VIN digit (position 10 = 7) and different part supersessions. Order the 2007 catalog instead.
Where are the rear axle exploded views?
Group 3 covers the rear axle. Fig. 3-110 shows the Corporate 8.25/213mm assembly, Fig. 3-120 shows the Dana 44/226mm. Both include axle shafts, housing, differential, and vent line. Fig. 3-410 has the individual axle shaft part numbers. If you are replacing a bearing or seal, those figure callouts give the factory seal part number. I have used this on a 2006 Overland with the Dana 44—the axle shaft numbers matched what came out of the box. That is the kind of confidence you get from original Mopar documentation.

You have the VIN, you have the engine code, you have the group number. Open the PDF, find the figure, write down the part number. No more returns from the parts counter. If you work on these Grand Cherokees regularly, this 499-page factory Parts Catalog belongs in your digital toolbox. Access the Factory Manual now and start ordering the right parts.
