If you miss that step, you will overheat on the first test drive.

Understanding the Fuel Injection System

Section 6C Engine Fuel covers the entire fuel system from tank to injector. The fuel pump relay diagnostics are there – including the voltage drop test at the pump connector. The “In-Tank Fuel Filter” replacement procedure is included, which most aftermarket manuals skip entirely. You get the factory pin-out for the ECM, the MAP sensor voltage table, and the idle air control valve resistance specification. Wiring diagrams are in Section 6D1, but the troubleshooting logic in 6C will get you through the common no-start conditions without needing to back-probe every wire.

If you are working on a TF with a 20LE engine, the V-belt tension for the alternator is specified at 95-110 lb-ft for a new belt, 75-85 lb-ft for a used one. That is a real number, not “tighten until it squeaks.”
