Description

Hitachi Construction Machinery ZX160LC Parts Catalog – 658 Pages of Factory Diagrams and Part Numbers

Hitachi ZX160LC excavator parts catalog cover showing upperstructure and undercarriage exploded view

You ever open an aftermarket parts diagram and find three bolts missing from the illustration? Or the callout number points to a blurry line that could be a hose, a wire, or a crack in the paper fold? That’s the kind of headache that costs you an hour hunting for a part number that doesn’t exist. I’ve been turning wrenches in San Antonio for 28 years, and I’ve learned the hard way: factory documentation separates a job that pays from one that bleeds.

Hitachi Construction Machinery ZX160LC Parts Catalog is the real deal. 658 pages, OEM printed data, not some third-party recompile. You get exploded views laid out in logical groups—upperstructure, undercarriage, engine, fuel system, hydraulic piping, cab, electrical. Every part has a number, every number has a callout. You trace the line, you order the piece, you get back to digging.

7 Systems You Can Identify Parts For

This catalog breaks the machine into sections that match how you actually work on it. Engine group covers the motor mounts, oil filter piping, intercooler piping, radiator, and muffler. Fuel section gives you the tank, support brackets, feed pump, double filter, and all the hard lines and hoses back to the pump device. Hydraulic piping is split into suction, delivery, return (two sections), drain, and main piping in five sub-sections. You get pilot piping from A to J. That’s eleven separate piping chapters. Each one has its own exploded view with the washers, O-rings, and clips you’ll need.

Decoding the Service Codes – What Those Marks Mean

Flip to the front matter on page 5. Hitachi includes a symbol legend that tells you how to handle parts. W means on-site work required—call the dealer. H is a precision component—ship it for repair. D means the part isn’t sold separately; you buy the assembly. K indicates the piece is in an open-end tool kit. S is a service-only part. Z marks engine-related items. OP is an optional component you order special. Oversize and undersize parts are flagged OS and US. Compatibility gets its own column with Y (unconditional), I (interchangeable one direction), P (prohibited—use superseded part), and T (use in combination). That kind of detail saves you from ordering a counterweight bracket that won’t bolt to your export-model frame.

Who Needs This Manual and Why

Shop owner with a fleet of Zaxis excavators—you need this on the workbench so your guys quit digging through junk PDFs. Home mechanic who bought a used 160LC at auction—you’ll use it to source seals, filters, and hoses before you tear into the hydraulic system. Parts counter kid who doesn’t know a pilot line from a drain line—this catalog gives you the exploded view to show the customer exactly what they’re missing. If you’re ordering fuel system components, the fuel tank support brackets, or the fuel double filter assembly, you get the correct part number the first time. Aftermarket catalogs often skip the little bracket or washer that holds the thing together. This one doesn’t.

Source Validity – OEM Factory Data vs. Aftermarket Copies

I have a rule in my shop: if it didn’t come from the manufacturer, I don’t trust the torque spec. Same rule applies to parts catalogs. This is an official Hitachi publication, not a scan-and-reprint job from some third party. The document identifier on the first page reads PIFI-I-5. The serial number range starts at 005001. Regional specs are marked clearly: NA for North America, EU1/EU2 for Europe, NZ for New Zealand, AUS for Australia, and STD for everything else. That means when you order a fuel feed pump for a North American machine, you’re looking at the NA-specific diagram. No guessing which line routes are different. If you’ve spent time on other manuals, you already know why that matters.

Does this manual include torque values for the cylinder head?
No. This is a parts catalog, not a service manual. Torque specs, clearances, and repair procedures are found in the factory service manual. This catalog gives you part numbers and exploded views only.
How do I read the “D” code for part change timing on page 5?
Example: D03/09 means from September 2003 onward, that part applies. The six-digit serial number on your machine’s PIN plate tells you which production batch you have. Match it to the model code (NA, EU1, etc.) listed at the top of each page. If your serial number is 005001 or higher, this catalog covers it. If you have a machine older than that, you need an earlier revision.

Your time is money. This catalog saves you both. Access the Factory Manual and put it on the bench next to the service book. You’ll stop chasing bad part numbers and start finishing jobs.
