What about shift tower alignment specs?

Page 8 covers shift tower disassembly, and page 33 covers reassembly with the alignment procedure for the detent springs and shift rails. It also tells you the correct pin depth for the remote control linkage on page 32. These transmissions are sensitive to binding in the shift mechanism — the manual gives you the exact pin-to-centerline dimension in inches. Don’t do this job without it.
