I’ve seen aftermarket “reprints” that omit the E-ring groove count entirely, or they flip the clutch release cable orientation. One wrong groove and your pedal free travel is off by 3 mm – doesn’t sound like much until you burn the throwout bearing. The OCR excerpt shows the exact wording: “Count the sum of the grooves and crests that are seen between the E ring inserted into the cable outer cup…” That’s not something a third-party writer would include.
