3 Critical Torque Specs You Need
The manual lists torque values throughout, but the ones that matter most are in the Basic Block section (page 84): connecting rod bolts, main bearing caps, and cylinder head bolts. All in foot-pounds or pound-inches. No metric conversion nightmares. The torque sequence for the head is drawn out with the bolt numbers – you follow that order or you pull a thread. I’ve had a 3406E come in with a head gasket leak because someone used an aftermarket manual that skipped the angle-torque step. This manual gives you the angle (degrees) after the initial torque. Compression Brake: Testing and Adjusting
