Description

Case 350B, 450B, 550, 26D, 450C 1991 Parts Catalog

Case 26D backhoe parts catalog 1991 135 pages OEM

You’re chasing a part number for a 26D backhoe bolted to a 350B or 450B crawler. You pull the old seal, it’s shot, no numbers left. Guess and order wrong – that’s a week waiting and a return fee. This Case 350B, 450B, 550, 26D, 450C 1991 Parts Catalog stops that. Factory printed in April 1991, 135 pages, no reprint nonsense. I’ve used the same catalog to pull pins for a 550 steering clutch – it’s the only reference I trust on the shop floor.

Tab 1 General: Serial Number Location and Machine Identification

First thing you do before ordering anything: find the serial number. This catalog shows you exactly where the plate is – on the 26D backhoe frame, not the tractor PIN. Page 4 of the PDF gives a clear diagram of the serial number plate location. If you skip this step, you’ll order parts for a 26D that doesn’t match your machine’s build date. I’ve seen it happen. Write down the serial number, then flip to the numerical index.

Tab 8 Hydraulics: Hose Routing and Valve Breakdown

Hydraulics is where most guys get stuck. This tab covers the entire backhoe hydraulic system – cylinders, control valves, hoses, fittings. Exploded views show each component with the OEM part number stamped next to it. No guessing which O-ring fits the swing cylinder. Cross-reference with the numerical index on page 5 to find the latest supersession. Aftermarket catalogs often leave out the small seals. This one doesn’t.

Tab 9 Chassis Mounted Equipment: Backhoe Subframe and Mounting Brackets

Bolting the backhoe to the crawler takes brackets nobody stocks. Tab 9 lays out every mounting plate, bushing, and bolt for the 26D on 350B, 450B, 450C, and 550 chassis. Page 1 of this section shows the subframe assembly with torque values for the mounting bolts – though this is a parts catalog, not a repair manual. If you need the tractor operator instructions, grab the Case 350B Crawler Tractor 1995 Operators Manual or the CASE 450B/455B 1995 Operators Manual for the 450B. For the 550, the Case 550 Crawler Operators Manual covers operation.

Tab 10 Numerical Index: Find Any Part Number in Seconds

You’ve got a part number from a worn-out sticker? The numerical index cross-references every number in the catalog back to the exact figure and page. I’ve used it to find a hydraulic fitting that was discontinued – the index showed the superseded number in one lookup. This is where the 135 pages earn their keep. The index alone saves you flipping through every tab.

Source Validity: OEM Factory Print vs Aftermarket Copies

This is a genuine J I Case publication, copyright 1991, printed in the U.S.A. It replaces the older catalog 8-1682. The drawings are original – not scanned and re-traced by a third party. Aftermarket manuals often renumber parts or omit the “Bur” suffix that indicates a minor revision. When you’re ordering a pin for the 26D dipper, one digit off means the pin won’t fit. Stick with the OEM source. For a broader understanding of how OEM documentation supports the Automotive Industry Overview, know that this catalog is built to the same standard as modern factory systems. Also check Automotive Industry Overview for context on parts catalog standards.

What This Catalog Does NOT Include (Don’t Expect Repair Steps)

This is a parts catalog, not a service manual. It gives you part numbers, quantities, and exploded views. It will not tell you how to rebuild the backhoe swing cylinder or what wrench to use. For that you need the Case shop manual. But without the correct parts list, any repair stops cold.

Does this catalog cover the 455C crawler?
Yes. The title includes 450C/455C. The pictorial index lists 26D backhoe for 350B, 450B, 450C/455C, and 550 crawlers.
How do I verify my part number is current?
Use the numerical index (Tab 10). Each entry shows the latest part number supersession. If you see a number crossed out or a footnote, that part has been replaced. Order the new number. This catalog was issued April 1991, so it includes all updates up to that date. For newer supersessions, check with your dealer – but this gives you the baseline.
