Cylinder Packing Kits: What You Need to Know

Pages 85-95 list the cylinder packing kits for every hydraulic cylinder on the machine – boom, bucket, crowd, stabilizer, swing, loader dump, loader lift. When a customer brings in a 23 with a leaky stabilizer cylinder, I pull page 49 for the cylinder assembly and then flip to the packing kit section. One order, right parts, no return trip. Understand the Exploded Views Before You Order

The pictorial index, pages 3 through however many, gives you a quick visual guide to every major assembly. Backhoe section: bucket cyl. on page 57, crowd cyl. on page 55, swing tower on page 25. Loader section: lift frame on page 7, subframe on page 5, counterweight on pages 11 and 13. If you can’t read an exploded view, you’ll order the wrong bracket or miss a spacer. The catalog uses reference numbers that match the parts list. Indented items belong to the assembly above them. That detail alone saves hours of cross-referencing.

Backhoe and Loader Hydraulics: One Source

Hydraulics are split into primary and secondary circuits in the catalog. Loader primary hydraulics are on page 17, loader lift and dump on page 19. Backhoe primary is pages 33 and 35, swing and stabilizer on page 37, boom/crowd/bucket on pages 39 and 41. Page 43 covers hydraulic couplings. Page 96 gives you the hose and fitting conversion part numbers – critical when you’re replacing a burst hose and the original JIC fitting has been superseded. No guessing, no delays.

A final word: The catalog’s alphabetical index starts on page 3. Use it. The numerical index on page 97 lists every part number and the page it appears on. When you’re under a deadline, that index is your best friend. I keep a printed copy in the tool box. So should you.
