I’ve seen guys guess at torque specs with a beam wrench and then wonder why the ball joint pops out at 20 mph. That’s not a fix, that’s a liability. If you’re pulling the engine or replacing a cracked frame tube, you need these sheets to know which fasteners are structural (coarse thread, grade 8) and which are cosmetic (sheet metal screws). The second paragraph on page 8-3 shows the removal steps for the 250/300/400 FIS/ACT: remove seat, turn gas valve off, disconnect fuel hose, remove side panel. That’s step one. If you skip the fuel hose disconnect and try to tilt the tank, you’re cleaning up gas on your garage floor.

Torque Specs and Aftermarket Documentation

I’ll say this once: aftermarket manuals pull specs from the internet. Some are close, some are off by 20 ft-lb. On a steering knuckle where the bolt thread is fine pitch and the housing is cast aluminum, wrong torque cracks the casting.
