I have a customer who replaced his lower control arm using generic specs and the bushing failed in 6,000 miles. Factory torque matters. The drive shaft section (Fig. 2-210) includes the proper axle nut torque – and it’s not the generic 180 ft-lb you see online. The manual also includes the step-by-step procedure for removing and installing the half shafts without damaging the transaxle seals. That kind of information saves you a transmission rebuild.

Service Brakes: Drum and Disc Systems

Group 5 goes through front brakes (Fig. 5-110), rear drum (Fig. 5-210), rear disc (Fig. 5-220), power brake booster (Fig. 5-310), master cylinder (Fig. 5-410), ABS control (Fig. 5-420 – Anti Lock Brake Control), and all the brake lines and hoses (Figs. 5-510 through 5-550). There are separate illustrations for short wheel base and long wheel base chassis, and whether the vehicle has the CYC option (which is the integrated trailer brake controller). If you are replacing brake lines on a Grand Caravan with the CYC option, the routing is different. This manual shows it. The parking brake section (Group 4) covers the lever, front cable, rear cables with and without CYC, and the rear disc parking brake assembly (Fig. 4-140). Torque specs for the caliper bracket bolts are listed. I haven’t found those published anywhere else.

Cooling System and Electrical Components

Group 7 covers the radiator (two different part numbers depending on engine), water pump (Figs. 7-207/225), coolant reserve tank, pulleys, drive belts, and transmission oil cooler lines. The belt routing diagrams are engine-specific: 2.4L EDZ vs 3.3L/3.8L. Get it wrong and the belt shreds in a week. Group 8 electrical includes starters (Fig. 8-105), alternators (separate for 2.4L and 3.3/3.8L), electronic modules (Fig. 8-405), power distribution center with relays and fuses (Fig. 8-505), engine sensors (Figs. 8-605/615), and oxygen sensors (Fig. 8-620). Wiring diagrams are not in this manual – that is a separate volume – but the component locations and connector pinouts are there. If you need the sensor resistance specs, they are in the diagnostic section (not shown in the TOC but referenced).

That long paragraph just proves that this manual is not a PDF you skim. It is a 563-page technical document that demands respect.

Short point: I trust OEM documentation because the engineers who built the car wrote it. Aftermarket manuals re-type the torque values and often get them wrong. I have a stack of them in the trash. Does This Manual Cover the Fuel System and HVAC?

Yes, but indirectly. The TOC shows Mopar accessory lines that include remote start kits and hands-free phone – those tie into the electrical system. The main mechanical sections cover cooling (Group 7) and brakes (Group 5), which are part of the vehicle’s overall systems. For fuel injection and HVAC, Daimlerchrysler published separate service manuals for the 2005 minivans. This technical manual is specifically for parts identification and exploded views with part numbers. If you need the fuel pressure spec or the AC compressor torque, you will want the service manual. But for ordering the correct water pump or brake line, this is the book.
