Description
Yale MS12, MS15 Parts Catalog – OEM Factory Parts Breakdown

I’ve been turning wrenches for 28 years, ASE Master since ’96, and I’ve watched too many shop hours get eaten alive because somebody ordered the wrong part for a Yale MS12, MS15 Parts Catalog job. You can’t eyeball a hydraulic fitting or guess a mast roller number on a lift truck. This isn’t a car – a wrong bearing on a Duplex mast means the chain binds, and that’s a safety write-up waiting to happen. The factory parts catalog for the Yale MS12 and MS15 is 56 pages of exploded views with OEM part numbers, figure references, and cross-indexing in five languages. If you’re rebuilding a unit or just stocking spares, you need the original source, not a reprint from a third party that guessed at the callouts.
Frame and Support: Pages 6–9
The backbone starts with Figure 1 – the frame (Telaio/Chassis/Rahmen) and Figure 2 – support and wheel assemblies. Page 6 shows the weldment and all mounting points. Page 8 breaks down the support brackets, axle mounts, and the drive wheel hub. When you’re ordering a new steer axle, the parts catalog gives you the exact fastener grade and shim pack spec. Don’t measure the old kingpin and hope – look at the figure index on page 3-4, find the callout, and order the right kit. The legend of symbols on page 4 tells you which parts are serviceable vs. replace-only. That’s information you won’t get from a generic parts website.
Duplex and Triplex Masts: Pages 10–13
Lift trucks without a mast are just expensive paperweights. Figures 3 and 4 cover both the Duplex and Triplex mast assemblies. Each rail, each roller, each chain anchor has a line item. The manual assigns figure numbers per component, so if you’re replacing the inner rail on an MS12, you flip to page 10-11 and match the view. The parts catalog also notes optional configurations – some MS15 units came with different carriage widths, and the manual calls out the variation in the parts list. Any time you touch the mast, safety is critical. The catalog won’t remind you to block the mast before working, but having the correct part numbers means you’re not waiting three days for the wrong roller again.
Hydraulic System and Distributor: Pages 20–23
Figure 8 covers the entire hydraulic system – pump, lines, fittings, and the reservoir. Figure 9 is the distributor (centralina idraulica/Steuerung). The part numbers for relief valves and O-rings are listed by figure callout. If you’re rebuilding a leaky control valve, you can order the seal kit directly from the diagram. I’ve had junior techs tell me they “cross-referenced” an aftermarket seal – that’s how you get a spool that sticks. This catalog is the only document that lists the OEM seal dimensions by reference. Page 22 shows the distributor assembly with all internal components. Use it.
Electronic System and Power Steering: Pages 24–27
Yale moved to electric power steering on these models. Figure 10 is the electronic system – controller, wiring harness, sensors. Figure 11 is the steering group. The parts catalog shows the steering motor, torque sensor, and the EPS control unit as separate items. If your MS15 has a steering fault, you don’t replace the whole unit – you look at the diagram, find the component number, test it. The manual also includes the power cables diagram (Figure 18, page 42-43). I’ve seen a shop burn a controller because they used a generic wire repair kit and the terminals didn’t match. Brake System and Reduction Unit: Pages 28–31
Figure 12 covers the brake system – calipers, discs, hydraulic lines. Figure 13 is the reduction unit (riduttore/reductor). Page 30-31 lists all bearings, seals, and the gear set. If you have a leak from the wheel end, you need the seal part number from the catalog, not a guess from a generic bearing cross. The reduction unit on these trucks is a planetary design; ordering the wrong ring gear will cost you a day of labor and a new carrier. The parts catalog calls out each shim and spacer – that’s critical for preload. Don’t skip it.
Battery Extraction Trucks: Pages 36–39
The manual covers battery handling equipment – fixed and double battery trucks (Figures 16 and 17). Page 36-37 shows the fixed extraction cart; page 38-39 covers the optional double battery truck. If you’re replacing the rollers or the latch mechanism, the part numbers are in the view. These are often overlooked but they’re safety items. A battery dropping because a roller bracket failed is a serious injury. Order the right bracket from the factory manual.
Why This Manual Stomps Aftermarket Catalogs
Every aftermarket parts book I’ve seen for Yale MS12/MS15 models has at least two wrong item numbers per page. They copy diagrams from earlier prints and miss updates. This catalog is the original OEM print from Yale, part number 524176175. It includes the correct figure index, symbol legend, and usage instructions on page 5. You get the same document the dealership counter has. When you call to order a part, you can give them the figure and item number straight from the page and they’ll pull it without returning to verify. That’s the difference between a one-hour phone call and a five-minute order.
Need to find the charge pressure spec? The manual doesn’t give torque values – it’s a parts catalog, not a service manual – but it gives you the part number for the pressure switch. Pair it with the service manual, and you’ve got a complete system. - Does this catalog include part numbers for the hydraulic cylinders?
- Yes, Figure 5 covers hydraulic cylinders on pages 14-15 with individual part numbers for each cylinder tube, piston, and seal.
- What is the difference between the MS12 and MS15 models in this catalog?
- The catalog covers both model designations under the single truck model number MS12-15S. The main differences are in the mast configurations and load capacity ratings. The Duplex and Triplex mast figures list separate part numbers for each model based on the mast type and lift height. The frame, hydraulic system, and electronic components are largely shared, but the parts catalog distinguishes between MS12 and MS15 by figure callout suffixes. You’ll see different options for forks (Figure 6) and battery trucks depending on the chassis size. The manual’s figure index on page 3-4 and the usage instructions on page 5 explain how to cross-reference the model in the parts list. When ordering, always verify the serial number range printed on the front cover.
Don’t let a wrong part idle a forklift for a week. You’ve got the drawings, the callouts, and the OEM numbers right in front of you. Access the Factory Manual and keep it with the shop tablet.
