Does It Cover Compression Testing and Injector Work?

That’s per Volvo Engineering. The procedure calls for a compression gage, and the manual tells you the exact engine speed range (200–400 rpm) for the chart. Valve clearance: 0.15–0.25 mm on both intake and exhaust. That’s cold, engine at ambient temperature. The manual doesn’t just give the number – it shows you where to place the feeler gauge between rocker arm and valve stem cap. I’ve had techs set them to 0.20 mm per a Chilton book, and the engine sounded like a typewriter. The factory spec is tighter because of the 19:1 compression and the injector timing. Trust the Volvo engineers.

Page 20–22 covers the fuel system: filter mounting, injection pump, governor lever, fuel inlet. The diagram on page 21 shows the full circuit from tank to injector.
