Description

Toyota Vios Wiring Diagram – Factory OEM Electrical Manual

You’ve got a Vios on the lift with a no-start or a dead fuel pump, and some aftermarket diagram you printed off the internet shows a different relay pinout than what’s sitting in front of you. I’ve seen it a hundred times. That’s why I keep the Toyota Vios Wiring Diagram on the bench – not a scan of a scan, but the actual 15-page factory document Toyota sent to dealers. Page 1 gives you the EFI relay circuit – 20A feed from the BAT line through the EFI relay, straight to the ECM. Page 2 walks the fuel pump relay (C/OPN) and the Park/Neutral Position switch. If you’re working on a 2002-2015 Vios, this is the only set of schematics I’d trust.

Toyota Vios wiring diagram page 1 showing EFI relay circuit with 20A fuse and ECM connections

EFI Relay Circuit: Page 1 Breakdown

The first page shows the EFI relay fed from the BAT terminal through a 20A fuse. From there it splits – one leg powers the ECM (terminals BATT, MREL, IGSW), the other goes to the injectors and ignition coils. Wire colors are printed right on the page: GR, P, R, B, Y. You don’t guess. You grab your multimeter, set it to ohms, and confirm continuity between the relay socket pin 3 and ECM pin A44 (MREL). That’s a factory spec check, not a "maybe". Automotive Wiring basics don’t teach you that – this diagram does.

Fuel Pump Relay Circuit: C/OPN and Sender Details

Second page covers the fuel pump control. The C/OPN relay gets its signal from the ECM (FC terminal, page 3). When the engine cranks, the ECM grounds the relay coil, the pump primes. The diagram also shows the fuel sender gauge assembly – resistance values aren’t listed here, but the wire paths are. You’ll see Junction Connector A24, which is common point for power distribution on these cars. If your pump doesn’t run, check continuity from EC to the relay coil – that’s the GM line you see on the schematic.

Ignition Switch and Starter Circuit – Where Mistakes Happen

Third page gets into the ignition switch assembly and the starter relay. The IG2 and ST2 circuits feed the engine control system. There’s a clutch start switch (M/T) and park/neutral position switch (A/T). If someone bypassed the clutch switch and wired the starter direct, the diagram shows you exactly which wires to trace – the W-B, BR, and Y lines from the switch to the ECM. I’ve had three DiYers this year burn up a starter because they didn’t check the ST relay circuit first. This is where the manual saves your weekend.

ECM Pinout References – 44-Terminal Connector

The ECM on this Vios uses a 44-pin connector (page 3 labels A20(A), C23(B)). Terminal A44 is MREL – main relay control. A35 is ST1 – starter signal. A36 is STP – stop light switch input. Without the factory pinout, you are guessing which slot gets which signal. The aftermarket diagrams I’ve seen swap A44 and A35 – that kills the ECM. This OEM print keeps you out of that ditch.

Who Actually Needs This 15-Page Manual?

If you own a Toyota Vios and have ever stared at a bundle of wires wondering which one is the fuel pump ground – you need this. Home garage guys, used-car flippers, even dealership techs who inherited a hacked-up car. The 15 pages cover the engine control system – EFI, ignition, starter, fuel pump, ECM, and all the connectors. No wiring diagram for the body or A/C – this is the powertrain side only. That’s fine because that’s where 90% of electrical problems live. Beginners: don’t touch a multimeter to this car without first reading page 1 through page 3. I mean it.

Source Authenticity – OEM vs. Third-Party Schematics

AutoRepairManuals deals only in factory prints. This Toyota Vios Wiring Diagram came from Toyota’s own service information system – the same one dealers use. Not a re-draw, not a cut-and-paste job from a Chinese repair site. Look at the wire color codes on page 2 – GR, B, Y, P. Those are Toyota’s own abbreviations. An aftermarket manual might call them "Gray/Green" or "Yellow/Blue" – and you waste ten minutes cross-referencing. The OEM sheet uses the abbreviations exactly as they appear on the harness. Automotive Industry Overview confirms that OEM documentation is the only reliable source for diagnostic accuracy. If you want to fix it right, you start with the right source.

Does this wiring diagram include the ECM pinout for the 1NZ-FE engine?
Yes. Page 3 lists the ECM connector (A20(A), C23(B)) with terminal numbers and signal names (BATT, MREL, ST1, STP, STA, etc.). Pin assignments are Toyota-factory correct for the 1NZ-FE.
I see wire colors like GR and B – what do they mean exactly?
GR is Gray, B is Black, P is Pink, Y is Yellow, V is Violet, R is Red, BR is Brown. These are Toyota’s standard abbreviations. The manual does not include a color legend because it’s designed for factory-trained techs; if you need a reference, check the Toyota wire color code chart online. For an 80-word answer: Every wire color on these pages is printed next to the line. Page 1: GR (gray) runs from EFI relay pin 2 to ECM pin A20 (BATT). The 20A EFI fuse feeds the relay coil – that wire is GR as well. On page 2, the fuel pump relay C/OPN uses a Y (yellow) wire for the control side from ECM FC terminal. Confirm with a continuity test before cutting anything.
