Every disassembly step, every clutch clearance, every bolt torque is listed with the OEM spec. The manual tells you which SST (Special Service Tool) to use. If you don’t have the tool, you don’t do the job. That’s the standard.
Anyone who’s rebuilt a hydrostatic transmission on one of these knows the torque on the charge pump cover bolts is critical – the manual gives that value in the Service Standards List (Section 17). It’s not a range from some aftermarket website. It’s a single number with units (lbf·ft, lbf·in, or N·m). And the bolt strength class identification method is printed on page 0-11. Check the precoat bolts section on the same page before you reuse anything.
SAS/OPS System: Diagnostic Procedures
Section 16 covers the SAS and OPS systems. These are the active stability controls that keep the forklift from tipping. If the SAS controller goes into failsafe mode, you don’t replace parts and hope. The manual gives you the diagnostic flow charts – test the speed sensors first, check the steering angle sensor signal, then verify the solenoid valve resistance. No shortcuts. I’ve seen a tech replace the entire SAS ECU because he skipped the wiring test. That’s a grand down the drain. The manual would have saved him.

That table covers bolt strength classes from 4T to 11T, with torque values for coarse and fine threads in both Imperial and metric units. Also listed: high-pressure hose fitting tightening torques. If you’re replacing a hydraulic line, the fitting torque is right there. Over-tighten and you crush the O-ring. Under-tighten and you get a leak at full pump pressure. Every component weight is listed in Section 0. The mast assembly weight? Page 0-16. If you’re hoisting the mast off a parts unit, you need the safe load for each wire rope angle. That’s not in any aftermarket manual I’ve seen.

Section E – Wiring Diagram. This is the full-color foldout-style diagram that Toyota printed. The manual pages are black and white, but the diagram is clean enough to trace the main power distribution, the controller area network, and the SAS sensor harness. You don’t need a multimeter and a prayer. You need the correct pin numbers and wire colors. The manual gives them. I’ve traced a no-start on a 8FDF30 to a corroded connector by using this diagram – took twenty minutes instead of two hours.
