Description
Takeuchi TL220 Workshop Manual – Factory OEM Service & Repair
If you’re tearing down a Takeuchi TL220 and guessing torque values on the HST pump, you’re wasting time and risking a leak. I’ve seen it happen. The Takeuchi TL220 Workshop Manual is the factory document that tells you exactly how tight every bolt needs to be, which seals go where, and what to check when the machine refuses to move. 263 pages of OEM data. No aftermarket guesswork.

263 Pages of OEM Data – From Safety to Troubleshooting
The manual is built around five sections: SURETÉ (safety), DONNÉES TECHNIQUE (technical data), FONCTION (function), DÉMONTAGE ET MONTAGE (disassembly and reassembly), and DÉPANNAGE (troubleshooting). Page 2 includes the foreword and serial number instructions. You get factory torque tables, hydraulic circuit diagrams, electrical wiring diagrams, and harness diagrams. Each chapter is a direct copy of what the dealer techs use.
Hydraulic Circuit and Wiring Diagrams – Factory Specs Only
Under DONNÉES TECHNIQUE, you’ll find the diagramme du circuit hydraulique, diagramme du câblage électrique, and diagramme du harnais de câblage. These are not redrawn by a third party. They are the original Takeuchi blueprints. If you’re tracing a pressure loss or a short, you need these. The torsion de serrage (torque tightening) table is right there – no need to cross-reference a Chilton’s. For reference on older systems, check the Manual Transmission article to understand how hydraulic and mechanical drives differ.
Does This Manual Cover Disassembly and Reassembly?
Yes. The DÉMONTAGE ET MONTAGE chapter walks you through removing and installing every major component. Sub-sections include Système de commande, Système de déplacement, Châssis, Système de contrôle, Equipements de travail, Réservoir hydraulique, Pompe HST, Pompe à engrenage, Soupape de commande, Soupape sub, Soupape d’auto nivelage, Soupape pilote, Soupape solénoïde de contrôle proportionnel, Vérins, Moteur de déplacement, and Air conditionné. Each procedure comes with standard d’entretien (maintenance standards). You won’t find a missing step.
Troubleshooting: When the TL220 Won’t Move
The DÉPANNAGE section is broken down by system failure. For example, under Déplacement you have: “Aucun déplacement ne se produit” (no travel occurs), “La vitesse de déplacement de droite ou de gauche est réduite et la machine dévie d’un côté” (reduced speed and drift), and “Le déplacement en 2eme vitesse n’est pas possible” (no second speed). The manual gives diagnostic flows – no guessing. Same for Bras de levage, Godet, Hydrauliques auxiliaires, and all pumps and valves. If you’re dealing with proportional control issues, the troubleshooting for the soupape solénoïde de contrôle proportionnel is on point. For a primer on how these systems relate to older technology, read about Manual Transmission – the contrast will help you understand the hydrostatic advantage.
Get the Right Torque Data Before You Tighten Anything
Torque values are listed in the Torsion de serrage table. I’ve seen guys grab a generic torque chart from the internet and snap bolts on a Takeuchi. That costs downtime and parts. This manual gives the factory numbers – no conversion guesswork. Use them. The same chapter includes criteria de performance (performance criteria) so you know what pressures and flows to expect after a rebuild.
Language Note – This Manual Is in French
This is the original French-language workshop manual from Takeuchi. If you read French, you’ll have the full factory resource. If you don’t, the diagrams, torque tables, and step illustrations are universal. For many mechanics, the visual data alone is worth the price. Pair it with the Takeuchi TL220 Parts Catalog for part numbers, and the Takeuchi TL220 Workshop Manual (this manual) for procedures. For a smaller machine, check the Takeuchi TB28FR Workshop Manual – OEM Factory Specs for Compact Excavator.
- Is this manual in English?
- No. This manual is in French.
- What about the torque specs – are they in foot-pounds?
- The torque table in the Torsion de serrage section lists values in Newton-meters. You’ll need to convert if you work in foot-pounds. But the factory numbers are there – no aftermarket approximations. The hydraulic and electrical diagrams are language-independent, so even if your French is rusty, you can still follow the circuits and disassembly steps using the illustrations. I keep a conversion chart in my toolbox; it’s not a deal-breaker.
Don’t rely on memory or third-party PDFs. If you’re working on a TL220, you need the real factory information. Access the factory manual and have the specs in front of you while you work. That’s the only way to avoid guesswork.
