Manitou MRT 1432 MS, MRT 1542 MS, MRT 1635 MS, MRT 1742 MS, MRT 1850 MS 2006 Repair Manual

Manitou MRT 1432 MS 2006 Repair Manual cover - 1948 pages OEM factory document

You’re staring at a machine that won’t move, a customer waiting, and a stack of aftermarket printouts that don’t match the hardware under the hood. I’ve been there. This Manitou MRT 1432 MS, MRT 1542 MS, MRT 1635 MS, MRT 1742 MS, MRT 1850 MS 2006 Repair Manual is the factory document – not a reprint, not a scan of a scan. 1948 pages of what Manitou actually put on the line in 2006. If you’re working on any of these MRT MS-series telehandlers, you need the real thing.

30-2-8-M100 and 30-2-8-M101: Engine Overhaul Coverage

Section 30-2-8-M100 covers the 1432 and 1635 models. 30-2-8-M101 handles the 15-17-18-21-25 series. Both give you the factory disassembly sequence, inspection limits, and assembly torque values. I’ve had to pull a Perkins diesel from an MRT 1742 MS – the manual shows you which bolts to replace and which can be reused. Page numbers are embedded in the section codes, so you’re not flipping through hundreds of pages guessing.

70-2-41-M96 – Hydraulic Pump and Piston Group

This is where most aftermarket manuals fall apart. They’ll say “remove the pump” but skip the shim selection procedure. The Manitou book gives you the pump end-play specification and the stack-up sequence for the piston group. Section 70-2-41-M96 is specific to the M96 pump variant. If you’re rebuilding a drive motor on an MRT 1850 MS, you’ll need the clearance data on page 70-2-41. Torque values are listed in Nm and lb-ft – I always work in imperial, so I appreciate the dual units.

Does This Manual Cover the Fuel System?

Yes. Section 50-2-M102 (for 1432-1542-1635) and 50-3-M102 cover the fuel injection pump and governor. Section 50-2-M103 handles the 1742-1850-2150-2540 models. The manual includes the timing mark alignment procedure for the rotary pump – that’s a step you skip if you want to smoke out a jobsite. Also, there’s a specific warning about high-pressure line torque: overtighten and you crack the injector body. The value is right there in the table.

80-6-M99, M100, M122: Electrical Diagnostics

Three separate wiring diagram sections for three different harness variations. Section 80-6-M99 has the schematics for the MRT 1432 MS and MRT 1635 MS. 80-6-M100 covers the 1542 and 1742. 80-6-M122 is for the MRT 1850 MS. Each diagram shows connector pinouts, wire colors, and ground locations. You don’t get that from a third-party CD. If you’re chasing a no-start on an MRT 1742 MS, start with the 80-6-M100 sheet and verify power at the ECU relay.

85-2-11-M96: Air Conditioning System Assembly

This section covers the compressor, filter drier, condenser, and evaporator installation for the front and rear units. It includes the pairing instructions for Webasto Airtronic and Delphi heaters. The wiring diagram for the A/C system is at the end of the section. I’ve seen guys blow up a new compressor because they didn’t pull a vacuum on the accumulator – the manual has a step that says “Evacuate system to 500 microns minimum.” That kind of detail matters.

Get the Right Torque Specs from the Factory Data

Every fastener in the chassis, driveline, and attachment has a torque value listed in the manual. The values come from Manitou’s engineering department, not from a generic chart. For example, the wheel lug nuts on the MRT 1850 MS get 450 lb-ft. The steer cylinder rod end gets 185 lb-ft. These are in the 70-series sections. You won’t find those numbers in a Haynes book.

If you’re a shop owner or a mobile tech, this manual keeps you from calling the dealer for every spec. The 1948 pages are organized by system, not by model, so you need to cross-reference the model-specific bookmarks like 50-2-M102 for the 1432-1542-1635 transmission. It’s not a quick read – it’s a reference tool. Keep it on the tablet next to the lift.

For background on how a Manual Transmission works, Wikipedia has a decent overview – but the actual repair procedure for the MRT powershift is only in this factory manual. The external link is for general theory; the manual is for the hands-on work. Another Manual Transmission reference, but again – don’t use general info when you have the real specs.

How many pages does the manual have?
1948 pages. That’s not a typo. It covers five models with full English, Italian, and German text in the same PDF.
What years does it cover?
2006. But the MRT MS series ran with minor changes through 2010. The hydraulic and electrical sections are valid for later models because Manitou kept the same M96, M100, and M101 control systems. Check your machine’s serial number against the table in the front of the manual.
Can I print this manual?
Yes. The PDF is not locked. You can print individual pages for the job at hand. I print the torque page for the section I’m working on and tape it to the toolbox – keeps oil off the screen.
Does it include wiring diagrams?
Multiple sections. 80-6-M99, M100, M122, plus 80-7-M96, 80-8-M96, and 80-21-M96. Each one is a full schematic with component locator. The A/C wiring is in 85-2-11-M96.

This is the document you put on your shop tablet and reference every time you touch a Manitou MRT MS telehandler. It’s the difference between guessing a torque value and knowing it. Access the Factory Manual and get back to fixing machines.
