How Does the U15-3 Differ from the U15?
The Product Engineering section compares the EU version and KTC version side-by-side. Main specifications, dimensional drawings, lifting capacity, and performance curves. It even has actual on-site excavation test results. If you inherited a U15-3 with a serial number after 46642 (EU minor change), the manual flags the changes – new travel motor and emission control engine from 2007. That can change your parts ordering. You don’t want to order a pump coupling for an early U15 when the machine is a late U15-3.
Check the Hydraulic Pump Specifications Before Rebuilding
Pump rebuilds go bad when you skip the specs. The manual devotes a full page to the main pump function and structure. Discharge rate curves tell you what the pump should put out at a given engine RPM. You hook a flow meter, compare the actual flow to the curve, and know if the pump is worn or if the relief is stuck. I’ve seen DIY guys replace a pump that was fine because they didn’t have the factory curve. This manual gives you that curve.

Engine section includes main specs, performance curves, electrical data, servicing data, fuel system (two sub-sections), cooling system with radiator data, and air cleaner service. Source Authenticity – OEM vs Aftermarket
This is a direct access of the Kubota factory document, code number 97899-61482. The OCR scan is clean, the bookmarks match the printed table of contents. Aftermarket manuals often skip the “Comparison between EU and PP-version” or the lifting capacity charts. This one has all of it. If you’re charging a customer or billing your own time, you can’t afford to use a reprint that leaves out the hydraulic pipe torque specs.

- No. This is the Mechanism chapter – it covers mechanical and hydraulic systems, not electrical wiring.
- What torque values are listed?
- The manual contains five separate torque tables: general bolt/nut, hydraulic pipe, hydraulic hose, engine fasteners, and machine-specific bolts. Each table gives values in N·m and ft-lbs. For example, hydraulic pipe M16 fittings call for 127 N·m (94 ft-lbs). The engine section has its own table for things like cylinder head bolts and main bearing cap bolts. You also get the tightening sequence notes where needed – it’s not just a list of numbers, it tells you the order to torque them. That matters on a hydraulic manifold where you have four bolts on a valve body. If you torque them randomly, you warp the body and get internal leakage. I’ve seen it happen. This manual tells you the sequence because Kubota engineers tested it. You don’t get that from a generic repair guide.
