You’ve got a Kubota engine on the stand, and you need the real numbers. Not the aftermarket PDF that rounded everything to the nearest half-turn. This 17-page Kubota D1005, D1105, V1505, D1305 Technical Manual is the factory document – straight from the printer that supplies the dealerships. I’ve torqued enough head bolts to know that 0.05 mm off on a valve clearance will cost you a cylinder. That’s why I grab this manual every time a D1005 or a V1505 rolls into my bay.

Forget the generic spec sheets that tell you “tighten to snug.” This thing gives you the hard data: compression pressure ranges (3.73 to 4.11 MPa for some variants), oil pan depths, and valve spring setting loads. You get actual numbers, not guesses. If you’re rebuilding a D1105 or a D1305 and you skip the torque table on page 2, you’re asking for a head gasket leak. Period.

SERVICING SPECIFICATIONS – What You Actually Need

The first section, SERVICING SPECIFICATIONS, is where you’ll live. It breaks down the engine body into sub-systems: cylinder head surface flatness (0.05 mm allowable limit), compression pressure, top clearance, and lubricating oil capacity. The OCR excerpt shows oil capacities ranging from 5.1 L to 6.7 L depending on the model and oil pan depth. That’s not a typo – the V1505 with a 130 mm pan takes 1.8 U.S. gallons. You need that exact number to avoid overfilling and blowing seals.

Page 2 dives into valve train data: valve stem O.D., guide I.D., clearance, spring free length, setting load, and angles. The allowable limits are printed right there – 0.145 to 0.185 mm for valve clearance when cold. I’ve seen techs set clearances by feel and wonder why the engine rattles. This manual ends the guessing.

TIGHTENING TORQUES – Don’t Strip the Bolts

Second bookmark is TIGHTENING TORQUES. That’s where you’ll find the exact ft-lb values for every critical fastener. No aftermarket “torque to spec” nonsense. Engine Body Specs: Compression, Clearances, Oil Capacity

This manual doesn’t waste space. One table on page 1 covers compression pressure for every model: D1005-E3B, D1105-E3B, D1105-T-E3B (turbo), D1305-E3B, V1505-E3B, V1505-T-E3B. The turbo variants run 3.14 to 3.53 MPa; the naturally aspirated ones run 3.73 to 4.11 MPa. If you try to use the same spec across all models, you’ll diagnose a bad ring when the compression is actually within spec for that engine.

Oil pan depth is also model‑specific: 110 mm for D1005/D1105, 125 mm for D1305, 130 mm for V1505. Mix them up and your pickup tube won’t reach. The manual spells it out.

Valve Train Data: Stem, Spring, Clearances

Page 2 also includes valve recessing, stem-to-guide clearance, and spring setting load. The intake seat angle is 1.0 rad (60°), exhaust seat angle is 0.79 rad (45°). Seat width is 2.12 mm (0.0835 in.) for all models. That level of detail is why you use the factory manual – the aftermarket ones commonly swap the intake and exhaust angles. I’ve seen it happen. Don’t be that guy.

Why OEM Beats Aftermarket for These Engines

I’ve got a stack of third-party manuals that claim to cover Kubota 05‑series engines. Every one of them has at least one mistake – wrong clearance, rounded torque value, or missing the turbo variant data. This document is the real deal: Kubota official, 17 pages, no reprints, no copy of a copy. The PDF was scanned from the original factory binder. You can zoom in on the table footnotes and read them clearly. If you’re serious about keeping a D1005, D1105, V1505, or D1305 running, this is the reference you need on your bench.

Does this manual cover the V1505-T turbo model?
Yes. The SERVICING SPECIFICATIONS table lists the V1505‑T‑E3B separately with its own compression pressure range of 3.14 to 3.53 MPa (456–512 psi). The oil capacity, pan depth, and valve train specs are all included. The table explicitly shows “All models” for most valve dimensions, but when a turbo variant differs, it gets its own row. You won’t be guessing.
