Testing and Adjusting – Valve Clearance and Fuel System

Section 20 of this manual is where the real work happens. It starts with standard value tables for the engine and chassis, then walks you through every measurement you need. Adjusting valve clearance is covered step by step, including the feeler gauge sizes and the order to torque the rocker arm bolts. The fuel system section is equally thorough: handling of fuel system equipment, remaining pressure relief, measuring fuel pressure, air bleeding from the fuel circuit, and inspection of leakage from the fuel system. Page 20-1 gives you the standard value tables—don’t skip them. If you’re chasing a no-start or a low-power complaint, you’ll spend time in this section.

Does This Manual Cover the PC750SE-7 and PC750LC-7?

Yes. The manual covers all five variants: PC750-7, PC750SE-7, PC750LC-7, PC800-7, and PC800SE-7. Serial number ranges are listed on the cover page. The PC750-7 starts at serial 20001 and up; the PC800-7 starts at 40001 and up. The engine is the SAA6D140E-3 across all models. Section 10 – Structure, Function and Maintenance Standard – breaks the machine into seven major groups: PTO and PTO lubrication, power train, swing machinery and circle, final drive and sprocket, track frame and recoil spring, hydraulic tank and pump, and the control valves. For example, the final drive section includes the bearing preload specs and the proper way to measure gear backlash. Get the Right Torque Data from Section 10

Section 10 is where you will find the torque values for nearly every fastener on the machine: hydraulic cylinder gland nuts, swivel joint bolts, travel motor mounting bolts, and track shoe bolts. These are not general “good enough” numbers; they are the OEM specs from Komatsu. For understanding the underlying gear meshing principles in the final drive, you can refer to Manual Transmission resources, but the manual itself gives you the factory tolerances. If you need the procedure for testing and adjusting track shoe tension, subsection 20 covers that too. The manual also includes the inspection of swing circle bearing clearance – a job that most shops skip because they don’t have the spec. Now you do.

Every section in this manual was written by Komatsu engineers and printed in Japan. There is no “interpretation” or “simplification” – it’s the same document the dealer technicians use. The wiring diagrams are in the troubleshooting section, with connector pin numbers and T-branch tables. If you hit a code like E112 (wiper drive short circuit) or E201 (CO cancel solenoid short circuit), the manual walks you through the diagnostic tree. You won’t find that level of detail in any aftermarket guide.

Can I use this manual to troubleshoot hydraulic drift?
Absolutely. Section 20 has a dedicated subsection “INSPECTION OF LOCATIONS OF HYDRAULIC DRIFT OF WORK EQUIPMENT” that walks through the measurement procedure. You will need a pressure gauge and a stopwatch. The manual tells you exactly which ports to tap and what readings indicate internal leakage past the spool valves or cylinder seals. It also covers the release of residual pressure before you start. Without this procedure, you are guessing which circuit is leaking. With it, you can pinpoint the problem in under an hour.
Is the wiring diagram printed in this manual?
The manual includes connector location charts and electrical circuit diagrams by system in the troubleshooting section. They are factory originals, not redrawn.
