What Does the Hydraulic System Section Cover?

The section titled “10 STRUCTURE, FUNCTION AND MAINTENANCE STANDARD” dedicates dozens of pages to the hydraulic equipment layout drawing, the tank and filter, the pump (type HPV125+125), and every valve in the CLSS circuit. You get the unloader valve, LS pressure compensation valve, boom regeneration circuit, arm regeneration circuit, merge-divider valve, travel junction valve, drift prevention valves, and the 2-stage safety-suction valve. Each valve comes with its own functional description and a cross-section drawing. If you’re rebuilding the main control valve on a PC300LC-8, you need the internal shuttle details – they’re in there, not in a separate supplement.

Get the Right Torque Data from the Proper Source

I’ve seen techs use a generic bolt torque chart from a pocket reference and then wonder why the swing circle bolts loosened. The manual’s “STANDARD TIGHTENING TORQUE” section includes a table of tightening torques for O-ring boss plugs – something aftermarket books routinely omit because they don’t know the difference between a straight thread and a tapered plug. If you’re working on the Komatsu PC300LC-8 or PC300HD-8, you need the values for the split flange bolts that hold the pump outlet lines. Those are listed by bolt size and grade. Page 73 shows the exact foot-pounds for a 5/8-11 UNC flange bolt. Not close enough – exact.
