Description

Komatsu PC05-6, PC07-1, PC10-6, PC15-2 Workshop Manual

If you have ever wasted a Saturday because an aftermarket manual told you the main relief pressure was 2500 psi when it was really 2100, you know why I am writing this. The Komatsu PC05-6, PC07-1, PC10-6, PC15-2 Workshop Manual is a factory document, period. It covers serial numbers from PC05-6 11301 up, PC07-1 10001 up, PC10-6 10501 up, and PC15-2 10001 up. That means the valve clearance specs, hydraulic pressure numbers, and compression limits are the same ones Komatsu assemblers used on the line. If you are rebuilding a swing motor or chasing a low-power complaint on a PC10-6, this is the only source you should trust.

20 Testing and Adjusting – Real Numbers

This section starts with a Table of Judgement Standard Value (page 20-1) and a Testing and Adjusting Tool List. Standard stuff so far. But then it gets specific: adjusting valve clearance on the PC05-6 and PC07-1 is done differently than on the PC10-6 and PC15-2. Valve lash settings vary by engine model, and this manual breaks them out by machine. Same for compression pressure – you get separate procedures for each pair. And fuel injection timing testing is shown with exact dial indicator positions. Aftermarket manuals will lump these into one generic table, then you end up with a piston kissing a valve. Not here.

What Torque Values Are Listed?

None in this manual are invented. The Structure and Function chapter (10) includes hydraulic circuit diagrams, spool valve cross-sections, and the center swivel joint breakdown. The Disassembly and Assembly section (30) covers removal and installation for every major component: radiator, engine, swing circle, hydraulic pump, swing motor, travel motor, and the blade. Each step assumes you have the right puller or seal driver. For example, the 7-spool control valve gets its own removal and installation sequence – no vague “remove as necessary” language. The Maintenance Standards chapter (40) gives wear limits for the track frame, recoil spring, idler, track roller, track shoe, and every hydraulic cylinder. If the manual says a cylinder bore is out of spec at 0.008 in., that number came from Komatsu engineering, not a third-party compiler.

7-Spool Control Valve: Disassembly and Assembly

You get full disassembly and assembly procedures for the control valve bank – the 7-, 8-, 2-, and 6-spool variants are each treated separately. The hydraulic circuit diagram in chapter 10 shows how the swing-boom swing selector valve interacts with the travel motor brake valve. If you have a PC07-1 that drifts when you let off the joystick, the diagnosis path is in here. Testing and Adjusting Hydraulic Pressure (PC05-6, PC07-1) on page 20-15 tells you exactly which port to tap and which gauge range to use. Do not skip the safety warnings – they include pinning the swing circle before you remove the swing motor. That is the kind of detail that keeps a track frame from landing on your foot.

Engine Overhaul for PC05-6 Serial Number Ranges

The engine removal procedure in chapter 30 splits into three sets: PC05-6 serial 11301-11700, PC05-6 serial 11701 and up plus PC07-1, and PC10-6 / PC15-2. That is because the mounting brackets and cooling packages changed. If you blindly follow a generic manual, you will be fighting bolt patterns that do not align. This one tells you to remove the radiator first for the early serial numbers, but to tilt the radiator on the later ones. Also covers the work equipment removal – blade, bucket linkage, and cylinder pins. Each step lists required tools (standard puller, seal driver, torque wrench with 1/2-inch drive).

Source: OEM Komatsu Documentation – No Third-Party Compromise

Every page in this 248-page manual is a scan of the original Komatsu shop manual. No reprints, no transcription errors. The wiring diagrams in the Electric Circuit Diagram section are factory color-coded. The hydraulic circuit diagram shows pressures and flow paths that aftermarket services redraw incorrectly. If you are a shop owner or a DIY guy who values his knuckles, you buy the OEM document. Does this manual include the operator controls and dash warning lights?
Yes. The Structure and Function chapter covers the work equipment linkage and the electric circuit diagram includes the warning light layout.
Does it cover the PC07-1 hydraulic pump removal?
Yes. Chapter 30 has a dedicated Hydraulic Pump removal section for PC05-6/PC07-1. You get step-by-step with hose routing and bolt torque specs.
What about cylinder rebuild specs?
Chapter 40 Maintenance Standard gives wear limits for the hydraulic cylinder bore, rod, and seals. It also covers the travel motor brake valve clearance.
Can I use this on a PC10-6 with serial 11000?
Check the serial range: PC10-6 from 10501 up is covered. If your machine is 11000, you are within range. The manual includes revision marks for pages updated during production.

You can spend half a day searching forums for a torque spec that someone guessed at, or you can have the factory number in thirty seconds. This is the difference between a repair that lasts and one that leaks on the first job. Access the Factory Manual and get the real Komatsu data on your screen or printed out and greasy. Your wallet and your machine will thank you.
