Description
GEHL RS6-42, RS8-42, RS8-44 2008 Parts Catalog

If you’ve ever ordered a part for a Gehl telescopic handler and gotten the wrong one because you guessed at the serial number break, you know the pain. This GEHL RS6-42, RS8-42, RS8-44 2008 Parts Catalog fixes that. 292 pages of factory part numbers, not aftermarket guesswork. I’m Mike Callahan, and I’ve seen too many jobs held up by a misordered seal or a missing bolt. This book keeps that from happening.
292 Pages of OEM Part Numbers
Every page in this catalog is pulled straight from Gehl’s own print. Form number 913273, revision B, February 2008. The Table of Contents lays out exactly where each component group lives. Need the filter reference? Page 4. The alphabetical index runs from A through W – you don’t spend ten minutes scrolling through a digital file. You flip to the letter, find the part, and cross-check the serial number range. RS6-42 machines start at SN 14235. RS8-42 and RS8-44 start at SN 16766. That’s the kind of detail that keeps you from ordering a part that doesn’t fit.
Engine Options: 115 HP vs 99 HP
Two engine choices show up on these handlers. The electronic throttle pedal means you’ve got the 115 HP engine. Manual throttle? That’s the 99 HP. The catalog calls that out on the engine-dependent pages. If you’re rebuilding or swapping a powerplant, you need to know which one you’re dealing with. The parts list separates them. A diesel engine from the 115 HP version won’t always share gaskets or fuel system parts with the 99 HP. For background on how modern diesel injection works, check this Wikipedia article on diesel engines. But for Gehl-specific numbers, this catalog is your only source.
Where Does the Torque Spec Live?
Standard attaching hardware torque values are printed on the inside back cover – page 292. Unless a specific callout appears in the parts list, all capscrews are Grade 5, cadmium or zinc plated, with Grade 5 hex nuts. That’s not a suggestion. If you pull a bolt out of a hydraulic pump bracket and the catalog says it’s a Grade 5, you torque it to spec. Guessing costs you a strip-out or a leak. The catalog gives you the values. Use them.
Alphabetical Index Saves You Time
The index is split into multiple sections: A–B, C, D–F, F–H, H–M, O–R, S–T, T–W, and W. That level of splitting means you’re never scanning a block of 300 entries to find a steering cylinder seal. You go to the letter, find the page, and move on. There’s also a numerical index if you have a part number from an older catalog. This is how a parts catalog should work – fast lookup, no ambiguity.
Check the Serial Number Before You Order
Gehl stamps the serial number on a plate inside the operator’s station and on the top front of the frame. The catalog breaks down the serial number format: model, year, month, unit number. Right and left are defined from behind the machine facing forward. That sounds basic, but I’ve seen guys order a left-side brake assembly when they meant right because they stood in front. The catalog states it clearly. Follow it.

FAQ
- Does this catalog include service procedures or just part numbers?
- It’s a parts catalog, not a service manual. You get part numbers, descriptions, quantities, and torque specs for standard hardware. No step-by-step overhaul instructions.
- How do I know which engine option my machine has?
- Look at the throttle pedal. Electronic pedal = 115 HP. Manual cable pedal = 99 HP. The catalog pages note the difference for engine-dependent components. You can also check the serial number plate for engine model information, but the throttle type is the quick indicator.
Don’t waste time with aftermarket reprints that blur part numbers or skip filter lists. This is the real 2008 Gehl factory PDF. You get the same document the dealer uses. Access the Factory Manual and keep your parts ordering straight.
