The manual shows pinouts and connector locations. I’ve seen three different aftermarket diagrams for the same circuit – none matched the OEM. This one does. But for internal rebuilds, get the component manual.

Does This Manual Cover the Engine and Transmission?

No. The foreword on page 2 states that major drivetrain component service information is not included. You’ll need the manufacturer’s manual for the engine (Cummins, Detroit, etc.) and transmission (Allison, Eaton). However, the manual does cover engine mounting, cooling system, and related chassis components. Page 2 also carries a notice about not replacing suspension, axle, or steering parts with used parts. If you’re a DIYer, don’t skip the pre-alignment inspection steps listed in the suspension section. What about the air brake torque spec for the compressor mounting bolts?

The manual includes factory torque values for all brake system fasteners, including the compressor mounting bolts, chamber nuts, and slack adjuster hardware. These are not generic values; they are the exact specifications from Daimler Trucks North America. For example, the compressor-to-bracket bolt torque is listed in the air brake section under “Compressor Mounting” with a specific ft-lb value. You won’t find these in aftermarket manuals, and using the wrong torque can lead to belt misalignment or compressor failure. The manual also includes the tightening sequence for the compressor bracket. You have to look up the exact page – but it’s in there. That’s the point.
