Doosan DX235LCR-5 2014 Workshop Manual – 1362 Pages of Factory Data

Doosan DX235LCR-5 2014 Workshop Manual cover - 1362 pages OEM PDF

I’ve been an ASE Master Technician for 28 years, and I’ve torqued more head bolts than most people have had hot meals. When a Doosan DX235LCR-5 comes into the shop, I don’t guess. I pull up this Doosan DX235LCR-5 2014 Workshop Manual. It’s the only source I trust for the factory specs on this machine. The manual runs 1362 pages, covers serial numbers 1001 and up, and was published by Doosan in October 2014. If you skip the OEM documentation and rely on aftermarket data, you’re asking for stripped threads, hydraulic leaks, or worse.

What’s Inside the 1362 Pages

The manual is broken into six major sections: Safety, Specifications, General Maintenance, Engine, Upper Structure, and Lower Structure and Chassis. Each section contains the exact procedures Doosan trains its own technicians on. The Safety section alone runs dozens of pages covering everything from pressurized fluids to ROPS. I’ve seen techs skip the safety warnings and end up with a hydraulic injection injury. Read it.

Specifications and Performance Tests

Under Specifications, you get overall dimensions for one-piece and two-piece booms, working range, and a full operational performance test table. The manual tells you how to check swing speed, travel speed, and cylinder cycle times. It includes the definition of “Performance Standard” and precautions for evaluating test data. If you need to verify whether a machine meets factory spec, you need this chapter.

General Maintenance: Standard Torques

One of the most abused things in any shop is torque specs. This manual lists torque values for standard metric fasteners, standard U.S. fasteners, Type 8 phosphate coated hardware, hose clamps, and ORFS swivel nuts. I’ve seen guys use a generic chart and over-torque a hydraulic line fitting until it cracks. Don’t do that. The manual also covers welding precautions – it tells you how to disconnect the battery and the ECM before welding, and where to attach the ground clamp. It covers hydraulic system cleanliness, including oil leak prevention and bearing inspection. If you skip the cleanliness section, you’ll be chasing contamination issues for weeks. The bearing inspection instructions alone can save you from a catastrophic failure on the swing bearing.

Engine and Hydraulic System Coverage

The Engine section is separate and includes full overhaul procedures. The Upper Structure section covers the cabin, counterweight, oil tank, fuel tank, main pump, drive coupling, main control valve, swing device, joystick valves, travel control valve, solenoid valve, EPPR valve, accumulator, gear pump, and one-spool valve. That’s a lot of components. If you’re rebuilding a swing device or replacing a joystick valve, the factory steps are here. Each part includes disassembly, inspection, and reassembly procedures with the correct clearances.

Does the Manual Cover the Lower Structure?

Yes. The Lower Structure and Chassis section includes the swing bearing, center joint, travel device, track assembly, and dozer system. For example, track tension adjustments are covered in the Safety section under Maintenance. The manual tells you how to support the machine properly before working on tracks. Crushing and cutting warnings are also included.

3 Reasons to Use OEM Documentation

First, aftermarket manuals often copy older editions and miss updates. This is the 1st Edition, published 08/10/2014. Second, the safety instructions are specific to this machine – aftermarket generic safety warnings won’t tell you about the accumulator procedure. Third, torque values in aftermarket books can be off by 10-15 ft-lbs. That’s enough to cause a leak on a high-pressure line.

For other Doosan excavator models, check the Doosan Solar 340LC-V 2002 Workshop Manual – 656 Pages OEM, the Doosan DX140W, DX160W 2006 Workshop Manual – 1180 Pages, and the Doosan DH130W 2023 Workshop Manual – 470 Pages OEM. Each is a factory original.

When you need to understand the principles behind a manual transmission in heavy equipment, Manual Transmission basics apply, but this manual gives you the actual travel device specs. For general transmission theory, see Manual Transmission on Wikipedia.

Frequently Asked Questions

What serial numbers does this manual cover?
Serial Number 1001 and up.
Is this a factory original manual or a reprint?
This is a direct scan of the original Doosan workshop manual published in 2014. It is the OEM document, not a reprint or aftermarket copy.
Does the manual include wiring diagrams?
The manual covers electrical components such as the solenoid valve, EPPR valve, and gear pump, but it does not contain full machine wiring diagrams. For electrical troubleshooting, you need a separate electrical schematic manual.
Can I use this manual for the DX235LCR (non-5) model?
No. This manual is specifically for the DX235LCR-5 with serial number 1001 and up. Using it for other variants may lead to incorrect torque values, wrong adjustments, and safety hazards. The dimensions and performance standards differ between models. Get the correct manual for your machine. If you accidentally use the wrong specs on a swing bearing or travel motor, you risk catastrophic failure. Do not mix manuals. Always verify the model and serial number before proceeding with any repair.

Stop guessing and start working with the actual factory data. Access the Factory Manual for your Doosan DX235LCR-5 and keep it on your tablet or printed in the shop. It will save you time and keep your machine running at factory spec.
