Description

Doosan DX15, DX18 2008 Workshop Manual

Stop wasting time on aftermarket manuals that leave out the critical numbers. I’ve been turning wrenches for 28 years, and I can tell you the difference between a job that goes smooth and one that ends with a stripped thread is having the factory Doosan DX15, DX18 2008 Workshop Manual on the bench beside you. This is the same book the dealer techs use – 513 pages, OEM print, copyrighted 2008 by Doosan. Serial number 40001 and up. No guesswork, no “tighten until snug” nonsense.

Doosan DX15 DX18 2008 Workshop Manual cover – 513 pages OEM factory shop manual

513 Pages of Factory Documentation

Every section you need is here. Table of Contents starts on page 3 and breaks the machine down logically: Safety, Specifications, General Maintenance, Standard Torques, Upper Structure, Lower Structure and Chassis, Engine and Drive Train, Hydraulics, Electrical System, and Attachments. That’s not a summary – that’s the actual chapter lineup from the manual. Each section contains the exact procedures Doosan wrote for the DX15 and DX18. If you’re replacing a center joint, you turn to the Hydraulics chapter. Need swing motor specs? It’s right after Cylinders.

Safety Section: Not Optional, It’s Required

You wouldn’t believe how many guys skip the safety pages. This manual devotes a full section to Track Excavator Safety – starting with signal words like DANGER, WARNING, CAUTION. It covers lockout/tagout procedures, high-pressure line hazards, battery electrolyte dangers, and proper blocking. I’ve seen a technician get a hydraulic injection injury because he didn’t depressurize the system. That section tells you exactly how to avoid it. Doosan wrote it for a reason. Read it.

Standard Torques and Tightening Procedures

Torque values live in the General Maintenance section under Standard Torques. Not “refer to manufacturer” – actual numbers. If you’re working on a Doosan and you don’t know the bolt torque for the final drive, you’re guessing. This manual ends the guesswork. You’ll also find engine performance curves (ISO 3046) and RPM standards for a new vehicle. That data matters when you’re diagnosing a power loss or setting up a fresh engine.

Hydraulics: Cylinders, Swivel, Motors

The Hydraulics chapter covers the center joint (swivel), cylinders, swing motor, travel motor with gearbox, pilot control valve, main pump, main control valve, and solenoid valve. Each component gets its own subsection with disassembly, inspection, and assembly procedures. There’s also a hydraulic schematic (DX15/DX18) – SP001681. If you’ve ever chased a drift in the boom circuit without a diagram, you know how valuable that is. The electrical schematics are there too.

Who Needs This Manual

Home garage guys who own a DX15 or DX18 and want to do their own major service. Small fleet owners who need to keep downtime short. Any tech who refuses to trust aftermarket reprints. This is the real thing – OEM documentation, not a third-party compilation. If you’re rebuilding a track frame or replacing a swing motor, you need the factory specs. Period. Related manuals you might want: Doosan Solar 340LC-V 2002 Workshop Manual – 656 Pages OEM covers a different series but same attention to detail. For a larger machine, see Doosan DX140W, DX160W 2006 Workshop Manual – 1180 Pages. Or if you need something newer, check Doosan DH130W 2023 Workshop Manual – 470 Pages OEM.

Source Authenticity: OEM vs Aftermarket

Aftermarket manuals often compress data, skip torque tables, or use generic illustrations. This one is a direct scan of the Doosan factory shop manual. Part number K1043970AE. Copyright 2008 Doosan. You can see the original page headers, the warning symbols, the exact font. I’ve compared it to dealer copies – identical. Do not use a Chilton or Haynes for a hydraulic excavator. They don’t carry the boom cylinder test procedures or the electrical schematic for the DX15/DX18. This does. For general automotive context, a Manual Transmission rebuild has different torque requirements, but the principle of using factory data is the same. Same applies to any Manual Transmission work – always get the OEM spec.

Does this manual cover both the DX15 and DX18?
Yes. Both models, serial number 40001 and up, are covered in one volume.
Are the torque values listed in imperial units?
The manual uses ft-lbs and in-lbs. You will find the Standard Torques section under General Maintenance. No need to convert.
Can I print the pages I need from the PDF?
Yes. It’s a digital access, 513 pages. Print what you need, but keep a tablet in the shop – grease smudges paper, but you can wipe a screen. I print torque pages and laminate them for the toolbox.
Will this work for the DX27?
No. This manual is specific to the DX15 and DX18. Using it on a different model means wrong specs. Don’t do it.

You’ve got two choices: spend hours cross-referencing forums and aftermarket PDFs, or grab the real documentation. Every torque spec, every hydraulic line, every electrical connector – Doosan wrote it down. 513 pages of it. Get the manual that keeps your machine running and your knuckles intact.
