DAF XF95 2005 Technical Manual – What the Factory Says, Not What Some Forum Guessed

I’ve torqued more head bolts than most techs have had hot meals. And I’ve learned the hard way that aftermarket manuals get the numbers wrong. Page 1-1 in the COMPONENTS chapter lists every bulb in the XF95: headlight dipped beam halogen 70 W, Xenon-dipped beam 35 W D2S LL, marker lights 5 W spherical – all of it. But the real meat is the max current and wire diameter table. That table tells you exactly what wire gauge to run for a given length at a given current. Need to run 10 amps 6 meters? That’s 2.5 mm² wire, 12.5 A max. You don’t guess wire size on a truck that’s wired for 24V and heavy loads. The factory printed this data for a reason – use it. Aftermarket manuals? They leave out the wire diameter table. Then you install 1.5 mm² for a work light and wonder why the insulation melts. WIRING REPAIR gives the repair procedures – splice specs, soldering requirements, and heat-shrink lengths. If you’re a guy who still twists wires and tapes them, this manual will correct that habit. For transmission-related electrical troubleshooting, you may also need a Manual Transmission reference for the driveline side, but the wiring that runs to the transmission speed sensor is covered in the XF95’s electrical diagrams. Don’t rely on a generic wiring book.

Tightening Torques: Page 1-3

Under COMPONENTS, page 1-3 lists the tightening torques. Not just for the engine – for every electrical component that gets bolted down: alternator mounting bolts, starter motor fasteners, battery terminal clamps, fuse box hold-downs. On a DAF XF95, over-torquing a terminal can crack the plastic housing. Under-torquing a starter bolt leaves it loose to vibrate and snap. Does the manual cover the air brake system?

No. Air brake plumbing and adjustment are not in the TOC. The wiring for ABS sensors and brake light circuits is covered, but not air lines or chambers.
