Description
DAF CF, XF Wiring Diagram – Factory Electrical Schematics
DAF CF, XF Wiring Diagram – I’ve been under dashboards since before most of you were born, and nothing makes me crazier than seeing a tech chase a short circuit with an aftermarket diagram that guessed at wire colors. This 199-page factory PDF is what DAF ships to their own dealers. It’s the same set of schematics that has kept Euro 4 and 5 trucks running on the road from San Antonio to Saskatoon. If you’re working on a CF or XF and you don’t have this, you’re gambling with someone else’s time and money.

Power Supply and Ground: 01A-1 to 01A-5
You start every electrical diagnosis at the source. This manual walks through power generation, power supply before and after contact, the main switch, dual battery setups, and grounding points. Page references are dead-on – you’ll see exactly which fuse or relay supplies which controller. No generic “check battery” advice here. You get the 12V supply routing and the ground distribution for the entire vehicle. Miss a ground on a DAF and you’ll get intermittent faults that drive you nuts. This manual stops that nonsense.
Vehicle Control System VIC-2: 10B Series
The VIC-2 (Vehicle Information Centre) controls lighting, direction indicators, wipers, speed signals, warning signals, and status outputs. If you’re trying to figure out why the turn signals work but the hazard lights don’t, or why the wipers park in the middle of the windshield, this section shows the exact pinouts and module connections. I’ve fixed three trucks this year using these schematics alone. The VIC-2 also talks to the Body Builder Module (BBM) – covered in chapter 10C-1 – so you can trace data lines without guessing.
Fuel Level Dual Fuel Tank – Page 63
Got a CF with dual tanks and the gauge reads empty on one side? The Fuel level circuit for dual tanks is on page 63. DAF uses a specific sender resistance and a controller that combines both tanks. The manual shows the wire colors, the connector view, and the test procedure. Aftermarket diagrams often skip this because it’s truck-specific. This one doesn’t.
7 CAN Networks and Topology
DAF runs seven different CAN buses on these trucks: V-CAN1, V-CAN2, I-CAN, D-CAN, BB-CAN, TT-CAN, and K-line. The manual has a full network topology section (02A-1 through 02B-1) that maps each network to the modules it connects. Need to splice into the I-CAN for a telematics unit? You’ll see exactly which wires to tap and what resistor packs to use. I’ve seen guys blow up modules because they tied into the wrong bus. Don’t be that guy. Automotive Wiring basics are one thing – knowing which CAN is which is another.
Lighting System Breakdown: 18A-1 through 18B-3
This manual covers every exterior and interior light circuit: headlamp leveling, stop lights, reverse lights, fog lights, marker lights, rotating beacons, work lights, step lights, search lights. The marker light wiring on page 72 shows the 4 circuits for auxiliary lights – something aftermarket diagrams constantly get wrong. If you’re adding a body or a trailer, this saves you from backfeeding current into the BBM. Automotive Wiring principles don’t change, but the DAF pinout does.
Why Aftermarket Wiring Diagrams Fail
I’ve seen “universal” diagrams that merge three different model years into one drawing. That works until you find a pin that doesn’t exist on your truck. This PDF came straight out of DAF’s engineering files. It’s for Euro 4 and 5 CF and XF trucks – no guesses, no “typical” values. Every connector has a number, every wire has a gauge and color code. The security system, suspension, ABS-E, EST-42 retarder, AS Tronic transmission – all factory correct.
If you need to add a PTO, the manual includes “Customer Specific Requirements” (99A series) covering PTO wiring and other modifications. The DAF XF Technical Manual”>DAF XF Technical Manual covers mechanical specs; this book covers the electrons. For bodybuilder guidelines, check DAF LF CF XF105 2011 Bodybuilder Guidelines”>DAF LF CF XF105 2011 Bodybuilder Guidelines and DAF LF, CF and XF105 2010 Bodybuilder Guidelines – Section: Reaction Form”>DAF LF, CF and XF105 2010 Bodybuilder Guidelines – Section: Reaction Form.
- Does this manual include engine control unit (ECU) pinouts?
- Yes. Section 03C-1 covers the DMCI engine system with wiring for the ECU and its sensors.
- I’m a beginner – will 199 pages of wiring diagrams help me?
- If you can read a schematic, yes. If you can’t, start with the network topology section (02A) which explains how the CAN buses talk to each other. Then move to a single circuit like the fuel level (page 63) and trace it. The manual uses color-coded wires and connector views, so it’s a learning tool if you take it slow. I’ve taught apprentices with worse resources.
You can get the full OEM wiring diagram for your DAF CF or XF right now. No shipping delays, no copyright infringement risk – just the factory file. Access the Factory Manual and stop burning test lights.
